White wins.. he initiated a throw. There was an attempt to counter.. a new throw was initiated by white to counter the counter ( changed sweeping leg) and force blue to land on his back.. white ippon

Wearing glasses whilst teaching judo??

Yes. Contact lenses payed hell with my eyesight and nearly turned me blind. They are smash proof flexible glasses and I am very short sighted, without them.

sorry I cant see why you would want to cross grip this technique. It is very frontal direct attack and relies on timing and speedy entry. A cross grip situation? Please explain your way?

Man I’ve been thinking about picking up judo but seeing your feet go over your head like that has me spooked.
@JudoLife22 күн бұрын
That is a high level drill to show how Judo can increase confidence in falling, you will be starting from the basics with a professional teacher and be safe. Of course if you haven’t yet started you have fear of falling from previous bad experiences. Once you commence drills you learn to relax, and gradually but eventually overcome this fear.
@cruelreality760021 күн бұрын
@ thanks for the advice. I have messed up ankles from past injuries, and am pretty inflexible. Still going to give judo a go soon, figure at the very least will teach my to fall without fking myself up.

@@cruelreality7600 do diligence on break falls and rolling to train your body to fall exactly, accuracy is required for mitigating injuries

It’s the basic standard static version. Crunch the numbers of static uchikomi, then move onto moving forward backwards and sideways versions, finally circling and add resistance and 3 person versions. But the first one to learn is this, even though we circle more often than not and it’s so hard to achieve chest contact in randori, that it’s often Ken Ken (hopping) version or osoto otoshi or hybrid like Ono does.

im 67 re learning judo, i love the energy these kids are putting in to the sport. so nice when a white belt beats a black belt.
@JudoLifeАй бұрын
It’s blue belt and white belt for score board sides referee’s, not a grade level indicator. Yes kids pump energy into the sport. Judo is a very child friendly development sport, for long term growth

Better not to grab the elbow and grab the tip of the sleeve
@JudoLifeАй бұрын
The logic in this grip is control in the throw. It’s a specialist grip to avoid judoka twisting out of the landing. It can’t be avoided easily, by elbow gripping.

when i was a kid,i've used to do that every single time i was fighting without knowing any type of martial art
@JudoLifeАй бұрын
Yes. Of course it’s a logical efficiency attacking move. Difference is in judo we all know it, how it works and how to counter and avoid it, making everyone upskill their entry and the opponents improve their defence.

We don't teach o-soto-gari until the kids learn more effective throws first. Otherwise they'll always go for it and never learn proper throws. I am not saying o-soto-gari isn't effective or proper, but it is just too easy to learn initially and very very hard to execute effectively.
@JudoLife2 ай бұрын
Exactly, very hard to teach commitment. But I teach it anyway but link to opposite side Sasae and Osoto gaeshi so it’s countered well and show Ken Ken version too. All these things add up to a better understanding of
