I've always wanted 2 attempt to make this sound in a stab style like the one in brockie & ed solo's sleeping giant track.. I'm about to try in retrolouge 2.. do you think its possible to get that sound in retrolouge 2? Would love 2 see a video of you doing this in retrolouge

@@OwenTheGeek hello again sir. I have a some nice alpha juno wave tables, of the pwm-saw and pwm-square. I wonder if youd like them, and you could do a very very very real hoover sound. Please tell me where to send.

If only every tutorial for the synth was like this. It's incredible to have an explation as to why a certain knob is tweaked instead of "we set x to yy%..." the biggest of ups

Love your tutorials Owen, I hope you are inspired to make more of them. Learning how to reproduce the sounds I love on synths/plugins I can afford really helped re-kindle my passion for producing music. FWIW - I would have no problem watching adverts if you change your mind about monetising your YT channel.

The way you explain the synth process is helpful. You explain the nature of the sound & the origin + you’re transparent about the variables and you don’t just suggest an arbitrary setting to copy.

You know what my man? Another (big thing) from Klubbheads are their SG Bass that they used multiple times in the productions. Are you able to pull that off? Examples are: Klubbheads - Raise Your Hands (Club Mix) Boys R Us - In My Mind (Greenfield Mix)

I'm doing exactly everything you do up until the 2 minute mark and it sounds completely different. It sounds a lot less crisp and a lot more "blurred." I found that turning the transpose a couple octaves more down helps but it still doesn't sound the same. Could you help me? Does it matter that I'm using Ableton 12?

Speak for yourself bro… most music I record is with real instruments and are multi mic’d! So linear phase EQ is of utmost importance… That’s literally the only way to keep music fresh and alive…

Thanks a lot! I was considering buying an alpha juno just because of this sound... But then I found this! Awesome, man! In the 90's besides the Gabber stuff there were a lot of jungle/breakcore records where you would hear on nearly every track a hoover combined with an Amen break, haha.. Greetings from Germany..

Quality vids Owen, your video editing skills are on point too mate, hope your doing well, had the pleasure of having a curry with you and vibes and a few other peeps in the balti cottage in sunny Dagenham, I didn’t know much about you then barring you were making some hot tracks with vibes, after seeing your tutorial vids I’m convinced you are a Jedi Mensa! Keep up the good work mate, that dread bass remake you did was awesome!

I really like the sound of oldskool rave and those breakbeats, and your tutorials are great, I've been trying to make Atmospheric Drum and Bass, Hardcore Breaks, Techno-Rave, and other such genres and styles lately, so hopefully in the future you'll be able to come up with some more videos on the subject to guide us in making music. Junglist massive and Hardcore will never die!!!

Sounds good but I've noticed that a speed (frequency) of pulsation heavy depends on the note being played which often is not good.Tried to get rid of this in retrologue but failed. Try C2 note and D2 one by one back and forth and you clearly hear the difference in pulsation.

Yes, I understand. In this case it was exactly the desired result. If you wanted to address that, you could link "Key Follow" to the detune amounts via the Matrix (although it would be a bit fiddly to adjust the modulation amount to get the desired effect).

I am blown away with both your choice of piano classics and also your understanding of them and the skills used to portray the nuances in the art of the chord arrangements. Very good job which has left me looking forward to viewing more of your work. Thank you Brother 👏🙏👏

Good tutorial. Historical note, though: on the original Alpha Juno patch, it was done with PWM on a SAWTOOTH, which you can also reproduce with Serum.

Indeed, and I might be more concerned with those kinds of details if I was actually trying to faithfully recreate the original "What The..." preset. My aim was more to mimic the sampled/resampled "hoover" hits of later generations.
