Therapy is so important. Unfortunately, people push the perspective that therapy means something is wrong with you when that is not so. We need to release our thoughts, frustrations, and trauma. Sometimes people don’t have anyone to talk to and it can make what you’re going through so much worse. GO TO THERAPY!! Yes, sis you are absolutely right!

You are such an inspiration ❤ thank you so much for sharing! God is so good ❤ Edit: I also wanted to add re. the singing, remember your voice is a muscle too. Vocal exercises & correct technique will really help! I have Necrotising Myositis and was (am) a singer/ dancer. I’m slowly rebuilding my voice & my range. My range was 4 octaves but I lost about 3 when I was at my worst, but 2 years later (still trying to manage my condition just like you are) I am able to sing without pain and have 2 1/2 octaves, sometimes 3 on a good day and I’m STILL healing, so by the grace of God, I will get them back! And I pray the same for you too!

Interesting jack inhibitors to treat DM. I’m on Tacrolimus, cellcept, plaquenil and at one time prednisone for my DM. I will check into that treatment . Your videos are very informative! You’re right the health starts in the gut! I’m trying to heal my gut. However, this is a TOUGH! Disease! But exercise has really helped me! An Anti-inflammatory diet, staying out of the sun and God! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and your holistic approach. My doctors only recommend me 1000 iu per day but I keep having low energy and sadness. I will get your recommendation in terms of the quantity ❤ also thank you for sharing your input about the spiritual welfare that us with MDA5 suffer. As you mention this is not easy, and the worst part is that is so different from person to person that the medication that didn’t work for you is working for me but I can’t travel, I have ILD, I can’t take sun and can’t work. But we need to keep strong and thankful with the lord for every little thing. This life is so precious and we need to constantly work on strengthening our faith and our souls so we can reflect that in our wellbeing. 🙏🏾

Thank you for sharing. I was diagnosed in 2018 with DM and my rheumatologist told me I was lucky because it was caught so early (just a bit of 'mechanic's hands' and some proximal muscle weakness at the time) . However, since that time I have developed smooth muscle weakness in my chest, causing lower esophageal dysphagia, an intolerance to exercise due to weakened diaphragmatic smooth muscles, and occasional dysphonia. I work with a physiotherapist regularly, but my neurologist and motility specialist informed me smooth (involuntary) muscles do not respond to exercise the way voluntary muscles do, so I am having to learn to adjust. I try to stay positive and have a great team of doctors, but the one thing that is so difficult is finding others who can understand how awful this disease can be. So thank you for sharing and shedding light to others who may see someone with this disease and not understand what's wrong, or think everything is just fine because they cannot 'physically' see the disease for themselves. Stay strong and positive!

Thank you for this. I was just diagnosed a month ago. I don’t have a rash but I have muscle weakness. Mine is also linked to ILD which they are testing my lungs to find out how bad. Right now the worse part is I do have to be on oxygen now. I literally went from July 3rd being fine to July 4th not being able to breath. I do have scarring in my lungs now. I am on 30mg Prednisone and another steroid and then I will be going on Cellcept. I’ll be changing my diet now.
