How are the classes conducted? Are the classes conducted in Japanese only? Is there plenty of time listening to dialogues and stories? Can what is done in class be duplicated at home?
@johannakatakana2 ай бұрын
Great questions! I don’t know if all schools operate the same, but I think most schools only use Japanese in class, as was the case for me! There are usually students from all over the world, and not everyone speaks English, so the common language ends up being Japanese. 🙂 I think my school had a fair amount of listening, not so much stories but dialogues for sure. Do you mean duplicated as in, studying at home instead of going to a language school? I don’t think so, having a Japanese teacher stand in front of you, explaining everything thoroughly and answering any questions you might have/correcting your mistakes in invaluable in my opinion!

What do you think about the website Take Me To Japan? I found them first, they're supposed to help you get into a language school. I think I could only do a 3 month one. I'm not sure how much money I'd end up needing for getting there, paying for the schooling, and where you live and how you get food. I can't imagine being able to afford college/uni though. I work at Amazon and I don't know if I'll be able to use the Leave of Absence for this. So its like, you have to save a lot of money and have enough left over for when you leave Japan and then find a job. It feels like I'd have to quit Amazon to go, especially if I ended up being in Japan longer than 3 months. Its easy to get into Amazon though. Like, how much does it cost to go to the vocational one and the 4 year one? I mean, 1 year of language school costing $10,000 is already a lot. If I went to language school for 1 year, how much money would I probably end up using total including where I stay, food, transportation, and whatever else?

I grew up in an English/Spanish bilingual household in the USA, so my name (Janine) is pronounced two ways depending on who's saying it. In English it's "jə-NEEN" and in Spanish it's "ya-NEEN". And of course my name originates in France where it would be pronounced "zha-NEEN". Those all register as correct pronunciations to my ear. So the Japanese ジャニーン ("ja-NEEN") is perfectly fine by me, and even seems like the one that's most phonetically accurate to the spelling of my name in my opinion, hah.
