9:08 feels so weird to hear the author just completely mock the idea of stability and kindness as good traits. Like I have an ace friend that has only felt sexual attraction once and it was NOT a good choice, the vagina does not always know best 😂😂😂

As a pro-choice Christian, this shit makes my blood BOIL. I am SO SICK of these so called "Christians" trying to control and shame others into their politics. RELIGION HAS NO BUSINESS IN POLITICS AND VICE VERSA. Im from a nondenominational group and it is a bit more lax than evangelicals, but lately the political grandstanding had been seeping into the sermons. I can't go to the church I grew up in anymore because the pastor has to sneek in some bullshit political message, and it's only gotten worse since Biden. I feel like Christians have lost Christ and now worship their political party. It makes me sick.

The pretentiousness inherent in the dark academia genre is why I tend to avoid it. Like please just get over yourselves.

Hahaha sexy Harry Potter, more like if Vampire Academy and House of Night were cousins who decided to hook up and as a result Zodiac Academy was born.

If you need really well written dark academia i highly recommend reading ava reid!! Especially a study in drowning and lady macbeth- a gothic retelling of Shakespeare's lady macbeth!!

Hi Rachael, your reviews have influenced me in reading more and buying books myself and I wanted to say thank you for everything! I’d like to also ask if you would be intrested in reading this manga named Oyasumi PunPun? I Loved it and would love you to review this masterpiece. Thank you and much love ❤ P.S The girl from the other side was the reason I started reading more 😊

I know you usually read books, but if you want a well-structured leveled power system that causes class divides, I suggest the Webtoon Unordinary

I loved Sarah Dessen’s books as a kid, and I’m still pretty fond of them today. I actually own Saint Anything and have for a very long time. I re read it last year and cringed at the black friend in that book, just an awful depiction. She’s better off just leaving her casts all white because she definitely can’t tastefully write other ethnicities. There are things about Saint Anything which are good, and her books touch many different people. I can understand how they would save lives. However, that doesn’t mean she’s exempt from criticism and it certainly doesn’t mean she can write to appeal to all people of different perspectives. I agree with the young person she was so mad at and she should have taken that criticism. It’s really disappointing for an author i loved as a kid to act like this - totally unprofessional.

I know its a broad question; but what about the first book that kept it from hitting harder? More details? More emotions? More plot? Im just curious on what made it lacking

Things I mention it lacks were: not doing anything memorable regarding the religion, not enough time spent making the relationship feel earned, and the moms motivations not really making sense.

If I didn’t have anxiety, I would publish my old stuff that’s a little better than this. I’ve watched enough Rachel deep dive videos that I don’t get what I’m worried about when this stuff sells.

i really enjoyed the first atlas six book because i loved the characters' chemistry (though my complaint was that nothing really happens and i wanted more world building) but the second book just goes downhill so fast...i'm only 15 mins into your review so idk if you read the other 2 books, but the second one was insanely mid and ive only heard bad things about the third book...

My children pick what they read, and I read it, too. We discuss what happens and how they feel. I can't let nothing happen to them. I can teach them how to interact and respond to the world around them.
