Everyone misses the reason why Fanatics wanted dealers selling $5,000 cards. Fanatics only makes $ when you buy wax. They want newbies to see $5,000 cards and ask, “I can pull a $5,000 card out of $150 box of cards?” And that’s how Fanatics creates the chase and makes $. They can care less if you buy the $5,000 card.

ie, they want to turn new customers into gamblers...start them off ripping wax, get them to move to buying into breaks on Fanatics Live, and eventually get them to place bets on Fanatics Sportsbook. You are 100% right about that.

Leaf does such an amazing job with their pop century set. If Topps or Panini ever dip their foot fully into that, they could really open up a whole new market for them

Fanatics is lighting money on fire with events like Fanatics Fest. It promoted their league & player partners but there was no buzz about Topps products. Fanatics doesn't market well. For example, I went to the Topps website and clicked 2024 Topps Chrome Baseball. The description: "Topps Chrome Baseball is back with an all-new lineup of the hottest rookies, eclectic inserts, and beautiful chrome parallels!" You can say that about any release. Why should a seasoned collector buy this? Does this convert someone who doesn't collect cards? Nope. Does a new collector understand what building a set "across a rainbow of color and tech parallels" mean? Nope.

I wish they were a little thinner but I do like cards with some heft to them. I know a lot of people like platinum because of the chrome style cards, and of course metal is very popular. I like fleer ultra because of all the original art work on the base cards and, in my opinion, the best inserts!

Great ideas. I really hope they don’t just do the boring things over and over again like they are for Star Wars. I think they really missed out at Fanatics Fest by not doing anything other than sports - should have had more Star Wars stuff too.

@@xavierdrake2867 the set is technically dated 2023 because Upper Deck was way behind on their release schedule but it was released mid-2024. Some websites will list it as 2023, others as 2024, but it’s the same thing.

Fanatics showed their true colors with promoting card cash if you signed up for online betting. Fanatics is a gambling operation and their gimmicks in cards are just part of the illusion. That’s why you only seen high dollar cards look kids what you can get if you gamble with our wax boxes! Horrible. 2 demerits for Ep lol
