This is a pretty good representative sample of Lumpy Ridge climbing. I've done the route twice, both time back in the early 1980's. Did both starts on the different ascents.

Have you thought about doing the traverse from Shirttail Peak to SoBo? That ridge looks pretty gnarly, and I haven’t seen any video about it

Is the a basin smoke shack still around? I lived on mountain at keystone long ago. AFAIK, the shack would semi regularly get taken down and then rebuilt in a new spot.

Nice line! I was there last weekend and had some of the worst wind in years. They didn't open the east wall until 1:30. Everyone rushed it and it was carnage seeing dozens of people hit rocks just under the newly blown in snow. This was just above the lift where it requires the most traversal but no hiking. Was able to see like 30 people crash before I got on the lift line. How was the snow this past weekend?

Specificity and tracking is the key. Choose 2-3 things you work on every week and just hammer those for 6 months. Just maintain everything else and you make great progress.

well said i was weak in overhangs and slab which i figured out was due to poor hip flexibility started stretching my hips and felt stronger overall

as an avid flatiron climber who frequents eldo, this looks rad and im def gunna have to climb it this summer. What does the descent look like?

Honestly my money goes for soloing Bastille in eldo so close so chill
@stephenfreas40565 ай бұрын
There is an exposed down climb on the backside, or you can down climb the route. If you have soloed the first Flatiron downclimb, this is easier.
@paeve3625 ай бұрын
sick yeah i didnt have any issues with any of the flatiron downclimbs. Stoked to get on this!@@stephenfreas4056

Lived 30 min from brighton/solitude/snowbird for 12 years after WP👍 favorites at WP/MJ would have to be the mushroom patch, the rock garden, the trestle cliff bands were always sick after a huge storm, the trees at the top of brakeman then cut into the coupler trees 1/2 way down, loved hitting belle fouche’ for some fun untracked days after a storm and maybe hike out to the hits back and up a bit more!!! Used to fly off the cat track at the bottom at WP down to the bridge into old town and a quick 3-5 min walk down to our lil’ cabin near the tracks😊 man those were some awesome years👍 something special about that mountain, huts all over the trees and even in/on cliffs….wonder if the ole’ tree house hut is still back near tophers trees🤔 good memories and unbelievable times❤️

@@AccessAlpine if ya have a beacon and a partner lap after lap on the berthoud pass gates(multiple areas to get there but the pano lift about 1/2 way down maybe a bit more on the far boundary line ya dip in for some unbelievable terrain but again partner and preferably with someone who knows the way at least a bit😂) you can hitchhike laps back to the jane and either walk or wait for the bus to cruise by👍 damn i miss exploring those mountains every day of the season😁

gopros make everything look steeper. it is steep of course but seriously the "fish eye" effect on gro pros make things look steeper then they are.
