I have an outboard with only 8hp. However I am interested too, how much it consums and at which Rpm the sweet spot for efficient cruising is. There is another one out there, that is not too expensive and should deliver a bit more precise results: 93N-6211-1100x

With the battery box don't by the included BMS if you are using 14s as the one they supply can only do 13s. They lie on the product page. If you buy a Daly BMS make sure you buy it from the official Daly store as there is a lot of fakes. I buy my batteries from Facebook marketplace as there is always people disassembling battery packs. I think they are just LG ones of memory. If you do this make sure you test the fuel pressure after the sensor to insure its not causing to much of a drop. Maybe do a test before and after installing.

I paid $50 for my Pocket Mod scooter within the plastics. I upgraded to a 48 volt 1000 watt brushed motor with an appropriate controller and variable throttle. Now I just need to upgrade the motor mount. The new motor didn't come with it's own mount welded onto it, so I made one with wood and a metal face plate. Eventually, I will get a welding machine to weld a metal motor mount to the motor. I also plan to upgrade the brakes to disc brakes. In addition, I currently use a rechargeable bicycle taillight and headlight for it. But, I may eventually install the car trailer taillights, with brake lights, that I have onto it. I also plan to build some turn signal circuits so I can signal my turns without hand signals.

I wonder if you can do all this over a BLE connection. My VESC does have a Bluetooth dongle attached to it, and it is accessible by Vest Tools on my Android phone. So instead of pulling the GND, TX and RX wire to the Arduino, I would like to use an Arduino with a nRF51822 to receive the data that way.
@TechUpBuilds3 ай бұрын
It's a good point. Unfortunately I have very little experience with Bluetooth as I find it to be inconsistent in robust situations. Also if you are already running power from the VESC then what's two more wires. If I was you I would research reading information from Bluetooth with an Arduino and what information is sent via Bluetooth from the VESC.
@iamkian3 ай бұрын
@@TechUpBuilds Thank you for your reply. I have been doing a lot of reading about BLE and the VESC, but till now no luck. I can connect over BLE with in my case an ESP32 to the VESC, but for some reason it's not getting any data from it.
@TechUpBuilds3 ай бұрын
@@iamkian 1. Have you enabled it in the VESC software? 2. Download a VESC Bluetooth app for your phone and test it works 3. Download an Arduino Bluetooth app for your phone and test it works
@iamkian3 ай бұрын
@@TechUpBuilds I have VESC Tool on my Android phone, and that connects fine to the VESC,. nRF Connect (an app developed specific for Nordic devices) does see the VESC, and the UUID's for TX/RX and service are all correct. I'm going to try one more day, and if no luck, this project will go into the bin.
@TechUpBuilds3 ай бұрын
I'm actually releasing a video soon on connecting an ESP32 to the VESC using a physical connects but the issues I had was I needed to use the ESP32's hardware serial function for it to work.
