Hello from France dear Emily! Maybe can we discuss about a project I have : create a mini vintage computer based on a mini CRT color TV like the one in this video? I don't find someone to help me here in France 😥 Or maybe someone in the comments can help? --> 🤑💰

Him still confused how you wired 110 to 220 three phase motor, or am I wrong. I thought you had to have 220 going to vfd. But it look like you run 110. 😅

Hello, I've been keeping a crow skull burried in earth for almost an year and yesterday came home and cleaned. I kept it one day and a half in 3%perixide. It is still stained but also became cand of transparent and I'm afraid to put it back. Any recommandations?
@EmilysElectricOddities8 ай бұрын
You should leave it in longer. It might not take out all the stains from the soil, but the transparent areas will turn white again after they dry

I'd be really interested in remaking this as I have a few films with sound tracks but no source to play the sound through. If it's no trouble, could you post all the parts you used to make it possible and maybe even a quick tutorial? (If it's not too much hassle).

Nice project!!! I want to use this device to decode flickering lights and produce a audio output. This seems like a great method. I looked around and could not find anyone using it for an audio output. Can you tell me how you hooked it up to your audio amp? Was it as simple as connecting the out and the ground to an RCA cable and hooking it into your amp? Or was there more circuits involved? thanks!
@EmilysElectricOddities10 ай бұрын
Yes! I just connected the output of the OPT101 to the input of the amplifier. I didn't use an RCA cable. They are wired together on a piece of PC board inside the device
@vicomedia110 ай бұрын
thanks i'll probably hard wire it also- funny how little i saw on the net anything regarding hooking it up to an audio amp ! i was looking for the 1-2 Volts input spec and i never saw it....

Hi Emily, this sounds really cool! I'm trying to add optical sound to a 16mm editing machine, and I was wondering what is the light source you are using? Could you share a link please? Many thanks, Bernd.
@EmilysElectricOddities10 ай бұрын
Hi Bernd. The light source is just a generic 5mm red LED. It's nothing special.

Amazing!! It would be one of the instruments most used by Syd Barrett (Pink Floyd) in his compositions. One of their favorite toys/instruments. Who knows how it would have been "The Piper at the Gates of Dawn" with Emily's synthesizer... 😉 Muchas Gracias por compartir tus experiencias 🙂

Very good idea. Another option is to have it on a wall but with output to a small monitor or screen as if it were a painting. It would not be autonomous but it would be an exhibition of ascii art. There are many possibilities

A very good idea!! I imagine it will be a mini organic garden free of pesticides. To avoid many insects it is a good idea to plant aromatic plants. For example, Lavender, rosemary, sage, thyme... For example, thyme is an aromatic plant that is easy to grow, we can plant it on the edges of the garden as well, since we will have it for many years, it requires little care and some care must be taken with watering, otherwise it adapts very well to almost all soils. . Its characteristic aroma that not all insects like, will help us repel slugs and snails and also control pests such as aphids. Excuse my English. I am Spanish and I do not speak Shakespeare's language, beyond my work as a laptop electronic technician. 😅

Did you connect the sensor directly to an amplifier or did you go via an Arduino board? if straight to amplifier which one did you choose?........Trying work out how to do the same thing as you but with 9.5mm optical sound film and my old head is struggling to work it out, ....Thanks

Now pitch the light in favor of some blinding bright LED's I just got to the the setting on my seat and guide machine, 1 HP Gear head and have no idea if I should favor torque or not, low RPM is like 60, so torque may not be a problem. I also added a hard depth stop and a battery powered LCD scale so I can see my depths to a thousandth. My shop is all 3 phase, so that conversion was not necessary. I even have a 3 phase vacuum cleaner. My VFD is Automation Direct. Thanks for posting!!! Mark

Does the VFD also work on 2 phase motors?
