Thank you for a very interesting and informative video. May I also compliment you on your delivery. It’s so refreshing to listen to property spoken English without any of the “vis and vat” or “fink and fought”😁 I am rebuilding my own Napoleonic collection having foolishly (and it turns out unnecessarily)sold it as the result of a downsizing house move on retirement. I will be following your progress with interest. Meanwhile I’ll be taking a look at your earlier videos and have subscribed.

Another call out is the 'chosen men' rulebook, which is based around 30-50 models in a more skirmish format. It may not be perfect, but it's a nice entry to Napoleonics. Plus you can play as Major Sharpe!!

Having visited the reenactement of the Battle of Leipzig recently, I was inspired to start another Napoleonic Army so I started with some Austrians. Prussians are also on the to-do list so I will be following this series with great enthousiam!.

Having retired last year and having tried GDA2 I decided to return to Napoleonic gaming after an absence of nearly 40 years 😳. I tend to work in 15mm due to space constraints and so far have completed an Austrian army and intend to paint 4 more armies for the 5 main protagonists. My choice of figures has to be dictated by my reduced budget and I use a mix of manufacturers. I must mention the Fizzer Johnson range , similar to AB and breathtaking detail ,the campaign figures are a real pleasure to paint. Mainly French and British and recent addition of Austrian grenadiers. Unit packs of 24 figures for £13.20 and a good discount for larger orders. AB are currently .85p per single figure so I only buy special units from them. Love the video and look forward to more.

Welcome back to the fold! Thanks for the suggestions - I haven't had too much experience with 15mm myself so always good to discover a few more manufacturers out there

Great Video, thank you. The best figures have to be the AB Figure range. They are 18mm, what Grande Armee 2 is best played at, and with almost all the nations and periods covered. You should treat yourself ;)
@MiniAgnostic14 сағат бұрын
AB do make some really lovely figures, I'm on the 28mm bandwagon for now but if I ever do branch out into other scales for Napoleonics they'd certainly be top of the list

Your audio was very good. I always tend to start a new army with the approach of an initial supported brigade. Say 5 infantry battalions, a couple of cavalry squadrons a gun and command. It always goes larger but it's a good small start to get my foot in the door of a new campaign/period. I enjoyed your video and am now a subscriber. Thanks for posting.

Thanks so much for your support :) It's definitely nice to get a good flavour for an army early on in a collection and try a variety of figures; seen too many get bogged down near the start of a project from biting off too much at once

The base coat was zandri dust I think, with a seraphim sepia wash. For the recesses probably diluted dryad bark and highlights working up from zandry through ushabti bone to screaming skull

You said Michael Perry moved on to using green-dyed towelling instead. What do you think of that technique?

Back during 7th edition i used to cmpletly ignore the grid and just messured how much space i need including the bit of space you get from the rim. today i would probably just use plastic card or a thin metal sheet with magnets under the bases. But i don't know if i want to go back into the old world yet...
@hionmaidenzzz92093 ай бұрын
the inside gaps caused by the side/straight pieces causing the models to not fit in flush was a design flaw IMO but apparently...it was so you could add grass/stones that cover the entire pieces that then blend into the models bases, so use the texture paint on the inner side/2mm of excess on each piece and the models will fit in flush on it
@MiniAgnosticАй бұрын
That's a really good point about the texture paint, never thought of that, thank you!

Insightful. Glad KZbin recommended your video. It was nice to see the Old World hype online, though in my area (metropolitan) I see a lot of OW boxes on shelves in various stores at present. There's certainly a disconnect with the online perception for Old World, what with boxes selling out in minutes, generating hype as a result on social media, and then the contrast to present state of boxes "littering" shelves (good point on your shelf space bit). For the record I live in one of the most populous cities in North America. That said, I hope the community grows given time and GW won't abandon it so readily.
@MiniAgnostic6 ай бұрын
Thank you 🙂 I know what you mean about the disconnect, a few people are coming out of the woodwork at a local club where I play MTG sometimes who are dusting off old armies and getting back into fantasy so anecdotally things are going in the right direction. With most of those players it'll take a long time however until they start feeling the need to buy new boxed product I reckon rather than just (re-)learning the game with old armies.

The only other fantasy ruleset I've really been interested in to be honest is Warlords of Erehwon - it's another Rick Priestly ruleset but based off Alessio Cavatore's dice activation mechanic used in Bolt Action.

Sorry, from where? I do take quite a lot of care to reference where exactly I found this technique (the Perry Miniatures facebook page who adapted it from Dave Andrews) in the video and the description. I also searched before posting the video and couldn't find anyone else outlining it on KZbin.

I may just break down and buy sceneic sealant. I tried a few times making my own, and it always ends up with white patches that look like sweat salt, or some other unwanted bodily secretion.

This is literally the video I have been looking for. I am starting to make 2foot 6inch by 2 foot 6 inch mini boards for games like frostgrave and silver bayonet. Would you have any suggestions on making a simple water board (maybe without resin). I’m hoping to make generic simple boards for different scenarios. Thank you for the video! It was very informative and helpful.
