I get this when I run asm_fw_reader.exe "Fw version : 130531_21_00_00 Image version not found, save as version from bridge controller" Edit: reason was, there was no eeprom inside my adapter...cheapscate chinesium. So my firmware is the non-upgradable firmware inside the controller itself. I fitted a 25-series eeprom (a random one I had around 25P05 / ST25P05AV 512 K-bit (64K-byte) SPI) and now it works.

Excelent tutorial! I would just add the following : Having to filter by RF code on both Tasmota and on Homeassistant is too much work, and eventually i will forget about it in the future. As such, i have create a rule that will send all RF commands to MQTT, and then its up to HomeAssistent to pick it up. Rule1 ON RfReceived#Data DO Publish tele/%topic% {"rf_data":"%value%"} ENDON Rule1 1

So... im not sure what im doing wrong here but i already searched half the web and i aint getting any answer... When i connect my USB to TTL (CP2101), to the sonoff bridge and then connect to the tasmotizer the following error appears: failed to connect to esp8266 invalid head of packet (0x80). Is this possible to be because of the poor cables i used (used some spare cables i had, was a pain in the ass and i sticked them with duct tape... i know its not the best method but was just to check if it worked)? The wiring seems correct, (the ground light on the usb turns on) but when attemping to transmit and or recive thoes leds actually turn up but with very low powering... And then that error appears. Anyone been trough something like it? Thanks in advance!

Is the Flash button on the esp8266 held in? (can't remember if it has to be held in for the duration)? Correct COM port is selected and TX > RX | RX > TX. If you are duct taping the wire to the points, I think this may be the issue.

Really great concise video which focused on pertinent information. I came across this having done this years ago and found problems with getting things to work with the new home assistant. Previously you I used payloads for PIRs and rfremotes in config yaml eg. name: "PIRC" - plaatform mqtt state_topic: "tele/rf-bridge/RESULT" value_template: '{{value_json.RfReceived.Data}}' payload_on: "E9E***" payload_off: "E9E***_off" device_class: motion off_delay: 5 qos: 1 and payloads for sending signals e.g. to door bells or other devices #RF Door Bell Send Signal - platform: mqtt name: "Ring2" command_topic: "cmnd/rf-bridge/Backlog" availability_topic: "tele/rf-bridge/LWT" payload_available: "Online" payload_not_available: "Offline" state_topic: "tele/rf-bridge/RESULT" value_template: '{{value_json.RfCode}}' payload_on: "RfSync 11620; RfLow 290; RfHigh 1250; RfCode #ABCDEF" payload_off: "RfSync 11620; RfLow 290; RfHigh 1250; RfCode #ABCDEFNone_off" state_on: "#ABCDEF" state_off: "#ABCDEF_off" optimistic: true retain: false qos: 2 I will look some more to see how to handle these YAML changes. If I remove the - platform mqtt line , it causes yaml errors. Yet the configaration check says that yoy must remove binary_sensor: and the platform line. Any help appreciated

unrelated question, pertaining to asmedia usb controller firmware. ASM3142 controller. not sure if you're familiar with this process or the tool used, which is ASM3142 MPTool, it allows you to update the firmware of your asmedia usb controllers on the motherboard. my issue was that my USB-C ports never really worked properly. someone had suggested updating the firmware, which I did, they passed (tells you if it failed etc..) things seem to be normal, or unchanged. all other usb ports work but the C ports are always disconnecting and failing (hang). not sure if my controllers are just fried (DOA?) even the firmware check tool lets you test your ports (signal/fixture), they all show up as fails, despite things like my mouse/keyboard/USB3.0 ports working just fine for external HDDs. either the tool is wrong and all my ports actually pass, or it's detecting an unseen issue (which may be why my C ports don't work correctly). What do you think?

When you go into Tasmota Console, do you still see the RF codes when using the standard template for Sonoff RF Bridge {"NAME":"Sonoff Bridge","GPIO":[17,148,255,149,255,255,0,0,255,56,255,0,0],"FLAG":0,"BASE":25} With my direct hack unit I only get RF codes when using the template {"NAME":"RFB v2.2" When it has been modded I no longer get any codes received with the standard template. Just to confirm, with the hack template, it is correct you don't receive a blue light, but you should still see the codes received in Tasmota Console. I would guess at may be the traces not fully cut?

My brother, outstanding job. I use this Sonoff RF Bridge R2.2 to implement my own home security alarm system, specifically for receive commands (arm, disarm etc) from those classic RF remote controllers. Up to this morning I depended on Sonoff Integration with HA, that unfortunatelly NEVER worked without internet connection (even setting to local). Now, thanks to your tutorial my system is completely independent, given that this Sonoff Integration was the absolutely last "mandatory' link in my home automation system. Well done! Some notes for those who intend to do the same: - My RF controllers are PGST PF-50 and SONOFF 433 ABCD, both integrated WITHOUT the need of "direct hack", i.e., without any hardware change in SONOFF RF BRIDGE R2.2. - Remember that you need to unscrew 4 screws from the RFBRIDGE box in order to open it. They are under the 4 adhesive pads. (seems easy but you know..). - Read this doc to understand "Rule1" command deeply, specially concatenate several rules under the same "Rule1": tasmota.github.io/docs/Rules/

Really great tutorial as I'm about to set up something similar. Question though - why are you needing to configure the VPN to be on a specific ethernet port with VLAN on both sides? I would've thought that the VPN router on the client side should be able to have any device plugged into any of the LAN ports and receive an IP address from the server router? At least that's my goal here. Anything plugged into the client router should receive an IP address from the server router.
