had the last concert of the year this Saturday and 5 people came. This is beyond depressing. Especially if 20+ people tell you before they'd come. Especially if not even your friends show up. And if it is the 3rd time this year (same location). The location is critically underfunded and overburdened - I got posters and flyers way too short time a week before and not even enough... At least some of my other concerts this year elsewhere went better. But it is a tendency. Do I live in the wrong city? -yes Do I know where to move to get better? - no Do I hate social media? -yes (but youtube :P) I am at the edge of giving up. Who is doing this? working your ass of all the time and you get ZERO appreciation! Not even money.

I actually don’t let them listen to my music, if I can. I had showed a friend who had genuine interest, but only that one time. I showed my parent a sample, because they couldn’t believe I had actually made my own music 😂 If I ever do decide to go public, it will be without their knowledge. No one needs to know who I am.

I'm so glad to hear this. I am an older woman who started writing after a 20 year break in 2013 with Logic and Ableton and I didnt make traction. I love the music I am writing, feel relevant and love making music. But feel alone as a woman and musician. It was super nice to hear you chat about the possibilities ..

I grew up in the 70's idolizing the rock stars of the day; cut to today and I'm so glad I had a successful career and and I'm now 71, prosperously retired, and playing in my home studio with my buddies for no one but us. I'm most thrilled that I didn't spend 20 years being broke playing clubs and wake up at 50 knowing I was going to be a broke old man too. Music is a 1% percenter business; the other 99% struggle to match finances with minimum wage workers. By the way, if you planning to be a schoolteacher, be aware that that occupation is famous for low pay too. Moral of the story: If you know a certain profession pays poorly, find something else to do. Being poor sucks with or without adulation from cheering crowds. Selah

The Amp Act seems a little weird. Sounds like it is more for payout to Mixers where there is no singer or where the singer is not the significant part to the song, like most techno songs. Otherwise, I was thinking it was closer to BraveSound in Korea where they make the beats to kpop songs and because of their name the songs typically get a boost, but then those royalties and other payments should have been in a contract.

Little has changed for me as a bassist focused only on being a hired gun sideman for the past 45 years. I just keep getting called and I just keep playing. I don’t write songs, produce or anything but play bass for hire. I have no desire to be famous. Put my daughter through med school playing music. One thing I do now is remote recording for clients all over the world without leaving my home studio. I don’t advertise or anything like that. I don’t know squat about social media. Just connections built over decades by being a good reliable player. I did tour with the Motown group The Miracles for a few years right before Covid hit. But got tired of the road and don’t do that anymore. That’s a young man’s game and frankly not as glamorous as many think. It’s actually a grind and you don’t get paid much for all you go through.
