I'm an LGBT rap/rnb artist I was told that I would never succeed in the music industry so I'm starting my own record label

Elton John, George Michael, etc…. What’s your point ? The majority of the industry are LGBT. If your music sucks it sucks (no pun intended) pause!

@@soulmindzentertainment844 People are just rude sometimes. I remember hearing similar from family friends every time as a kid if I said I wanted to sing and they’d say “black people should focus on academia”. If I gave black musicians as an example I’d get the response “those are the lucky ones” 🤡

Who cares what they say. My whole life I was told that I need to make happier/faster music. I don’t want to. I do anyway what I feel like I should. Good luck with your record label!

@@MB-nb7yq Academia? Do you mean education? Like being a teacher or professor? We need more black people in STEM, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math all offer great careers. I make good money as a software engineer. However, if that isn't your talent, you're not going to make it. You should pursue what fits your skillset.

I used to say I was alone but In the last two years, I’ve built sort of a team of people that I trust to get certain things done for me like my engineer, my photographer, my TV production crew and now I’m going to have a music video director and filmer on my side. I know soon I’ll need help with styling and other stuff but the time will tell when I’ll need more people to help me out. The rest I do myself: artwork, PR things like interview , press kits, bios (because I realized I was good at writing and with words), digital marketing, audience growing, engagement with fans, and songwriting.

I am enjoying your videos. I agree you definitely cannot do this alone. And I would also recommend artists do not rely only on streaming to reach their financial goals. Definitely have some kind of a back up plan because selling music albums online is HARD. Selling anything online is hard. Have a back up plan so you're not stressed trying to make a full time income with music.

I know that a lot of musicians go to teaching. Teaching students and so they can use this time to approve on their own music and still work in the music industry but they’re not relying on their own music to make enough money to support their entire life but I think there are many many many other options than teaching as well

But don’t if you get a manager you are risking them taking your Masters and some cases it is really hard to get your masters back and you can lose a whole bunch of money doing this in the long run ?

Art and BUSINESS NEVER MENT TO BE UNITED.... ART IS SUPERIOR. CHOOSE THE WRONG PATH AND YOU WILL FAIL.
@celestialskii
@celestialskii Жыл бұрын
Art and business has always been united. Artist never worked for free, even when they were doing those old oil paintings. Time = Money. Artist put their time and work into their art and they want to paid for it. It has never been, artist doing things for free for the sake of it. Go up to any digital or traditional artist online and ask them for free art. You're not gonna get it. Or even those instrumental channels, you ain't getting a free instrumental 🤣
