Do they have to be clustered in the same pot or can you have singletons just near each other in their own pots?
@FiddleLeafFigPlant

You can group plants together and they will be very happy as it raises the humidity around them. If you have a pot that has multiple plants in the same pot, that is beneficial as well. Happy Growing!

Great question! Grow lights are a great option if you don't have enough bright light from a window. I recommend these bulbs from Amazon which can be used up to 12 hours a day. Remember to give the plant at least 8 hours of darkness for proper transpiration. fiddleleaffigplant.com/growlights

You're welcome! Yes, you can propagate any cuttings / offshoots so long as you have a node. As long as the cutting has a node, the roots that grow will turn the cutting into a new plant. Happy growing!

Hi Melody, if the brown spots are dry and crispy, fully water your plant when the top inches of soil are dry ensuring all the soil is soaked and it drains well out the bottom drainage holes. If the brown spots on the leaves are dark, black, spreading from the veins, the soil and/or pot might not be draining well. She did not talk about nodes at all which surprised me and was referring to your cuttings as a leaf? Are you supposed to just cut a leaf or cut through the stem I don't get it I'm confused now. There were pictures in her video of just a leaf with roots on it but I was always told that you cannot grow a fiddly fig from a single leaf. So what's up with no mention of nodes for roots?
@FiddleLeafFigPlant
@FiddleLeafFigPlant 6 күн бұрын
Definitely need nodes to grow roots for a new plant. For propagation, you would need to have a cutting from the plant that includes a node. For notching (which encourages branching on a plant) you do a 'notch' area between nodes to encourage more branches to grow. I'm sorry to hear you are seeing some yellowing of leaves. After repotting, the plant will focus its energy on growing the root system to accommodate the larger pot. After it gets established, new growth will start popping up. For the bottom leaves, it is a normal maturation process of the leaves for them to discolor and possibly drop. As long as the overall tree is healthy and when new growth appears it is free of any spots, you are good! Propogating roots in water vs propogating them in soil? How much difference does it make?
@FiddleLeafFigPlant
@FiddleLeafFigPlant 20 күн бұрын
Great question! It doesn't make too much difference to the growth of the roots however, in water you can see the progress of the roots. In soil, you can't see the progression of the roots growing and if you lifted the cutting out of the soil, it could potentially damage the new roots that have formed. Happy Growing!
