My partner and I did the 7 nights Canary and Madeira cruise earlier this year in January (on the Azura) as it was a 30th birthday gift for myself. This was our first one so didn't know what to expect, other than reading reviews. I did read quite a few that slammed both the décor and food. All I can say is these people must have been snobs as the ship is beautiful! The interiors actually suit the ship, gold and light coloured woods. The food was incredible, even the buffet which we used from time to time but usually had dinner in the Sindhu and the Peninsula. It is also worth mentioning that the drinks were not that expensive, a large glass of relatively good wine being £6 odd. Though I had a small and it looked like a large. The drinks packages are expensive and compared to the prices of each drink, just isn't worth it unless you're not going to get off the ship and sit by the pool all day for the entire week which a lot of people did (I just don't get that). The entertainment was also a highlight for us and I usually hate holiday entertainment but Azura did not disappoint. I highly recommend going to watch the girl group - Queens of Rhythm who sing Motown and disco. Another point to mention is that P&O confiscate alcohol after the first day (you can go through airport duty free and each take on board 1 litre of alcohol and drink in your room). We went to Madeira and I bought a bottle, yet went through security which you have to do every time you get off, bags went through scanners and my bottle of Madeira wasn't taken off me . We didn't drink it as this was a gift to take home but found the security to be a bit relaxed. All in all, we enjoyed our cruise and would travel again with P&O.

Hi. No sadly the Santuary is currently for full suites only. In October there is a new category called Santuary collection which does include non suite cabins. It all seems rather confusing. The Cabana deck on 9 is for a specific type of Cabana mini suite. Again Princess have created confusion with the range of cabins and perks.

Hi , we met as we were both getting off the Sun Princess in Athens . Agree with everything you said about the ship. I dont think we mentioned that we too got an upgrade . Like you , we were originally booked in a suite in the 'bulge' ( Cabana mini suite) which we were quite happy with . I bidded for a Penthouse Suite at the same price point as you did but Princess came back to us and said 'no' but would we like a Sky Suite It cost us an extra £2400 in toal but we got one !(of the 4 Sky Suites on the ship) . Utterly unbelievable . The same floor area as our house. Amazing . We had a fantastic breakfast and a worldie eveining meal served in the cabin. I dont think we'll be cruising for many a year as anything else will be a complete downer..Were stil buzzing. . The full price would have been circa £3000 a day . A holiday of several lifetimes. I would be interesting to get under the skin of upgrades and how and why cruise companies offer / allocate uogrades ... i gert the idea its a combination of factors ...anyway , best wishes.

Good to see Santorini as I've never been there. The shows on board looked amazing. Sadly, our cruising days will be coming to an end as Cunard and P&O are pulling out of the Australian cruise market so unless you can afford to fly overseas to join a cruise, it won't be happening. Not many cruise lines come here, especially not from Fremantle. I'm glad I can experience travel by watching your adventures.

first, you did a fabulous job narrating the video! also, thank you for video'ing a clean cabin. :) you really covered all aspects of interest to me. i am not sure on the price difference between 'signature suite' and 'mini-suite'. the perks may be worth the price difference. i do miss the dressing area on the prior princess ships (e.g. discovery princess). that is the only aspect I wish they'd add back.
@AgelessCuriosity
@AgelessCuriosity Ай бұрын
Hi. Thank you so much for your feedback. Afterall if no one likes or watches our videos it is not worth our time making. In reply to the costs of the suite we were originally booked in a Premium Deluxe Balcony Cabin with Princess Plus and was £1614 each. We put in a low bid offer for the upgrade to a suite for an additional £215 each. That was an incredible offer and could not believe it when we were successful . I am not sure what a Mini suite would have cost on our cruise but I have looked up a similar itinerary/ship for April 2025 and a mini suite with no perks is £2184 and an S9 Signature Suite is £3588. Quite a difference for the suite perks. I did love the size of room and would have had a wonderful time even if we do not have the suite perks. They just made the cruise even more special and one we will never forget. We do have a cruise booked on Star Princess in a Cabana Mini Suite and will consider an upgrade again if a good price. I am not sure if the minimum upgrade we had is the usual price so we do feel very lucky and for us it was worth every penny. Whether we would pay nearly double the price is a tough one especially on a port intensive cruise. I know what you mean about the dressing area. But the mini suite is long and did give enough room around the wardrobe area to get dressed and the bathroom is a decent size. Hope you enjoy your next cruise

Hi. Thank you for subscribing and your kind words. With the Bon Voyage package we felt it was a good value treat. It enabled us experiences we would not usually have eg bubbly, chocolate and flowers on arrival, bathrobes (we could take home) and the photograph. The breakfast in bed ended up being a delicious treat on the balcony in the middle of the Atlantic ocean. We were really pleased we chose this extra on our 14 night trip. I don't feel it is something we would arrange on every P&O trip as it would lose the uniqueness and you need enough room in your luggage for the dressing gowns 🤣

Hi. Thank you for your feedback. We travelled in term time so there were few children and were mostly pre school age. There are certainly other cruise lines that provide a range of activities for children other than kids club, pool and sports deck. Our itinerary was port heavy with late on board times so you could really explore the ports and excursions. It may depend on needs of the children. If they are seeking fun filled activities every day then Azura may not be the best ship. Arvia is the ship with most activities for children in our observations. Hope you enjoy your cruise whichever one you decide.
