@northeastangling6 сағат бұрын
Hi David. They are made by Arno-Hooks. Of your local you can buy them at Lennys in south shields. If not just search them on Google and a stockist should pop up.

Those pop up rigs work well attracting the bites. Thanks for sharing.
@northeastangling19 сағат бұрын
I,ve always used one on my flattie rigs a few inches behind the hook. More to aid movement than lift the bait. This rig really does suspend the bait away from the ever hungry crabs. All the best Phil.

Have whiting always been common in the Tyne mate? As a lot of the old timers reckon they used to be rare north of the Tyne
@northeastangling20 сағат бұрын
Hi Lee, as long as I have fished the Tyne, mid-80's Whiting have always been present. They used to be mainly pin Whiting, but nowadays, I have had them over 42 centimetres in big numbers too. Back in the 80's you would also catch cod over 5lb regularly and big bags too. Coalies over 2lb were as far up as Walker. Thanks for watching.

Nice video mate. I use braid myself. Rig body's that are only 30cm with 30cm leaders. Casting about 100 yards. I don't understand how I get massive bite detection on the smaller fish! What tackle do you use that makes the bait float?
@northeastangling20 сағат бұрын

Very much enjoyed your post very honest and I totally agree with you about all this secretive crap about the marks their fishing surely it would be more helpful to novices and youngsters to share their so called knowledge like you say they want to show their catch off but not tell you the location how do we know the validity of the photographs for that matter getting my oldest grandson into it gradually in between his busy football schedule had him coarse fishing a few times in the summer the look on his face was priceless maybe get a window over the Xmas break and take him flattie bashing down the river he’s dead keen but his footy definitely comes first for him keep the videos coming mate and tight lines👏🎣

Another great video - agree entirely with your comments about catching. I remember fishing Roker and Shields piers as a kid in the 80s and if you caught something sized it was a red letter day. Blanked far more than i caught back then but still enjoyed it

Watching brings back soo many good memories of eighties and nineties both on the coast and the boats. The feast, famine, and when Murphy’s law had an input. Best results for me Blyth beach from low up to high water. Summer flounder fun Alnmouth estuary. My bogey beach was always Seaham. Back when it was still covered in coal dust l could hardly ever find cod. Dab, coalies, whiting, one early February trip my car was having repairs done so bus to Newcastle train to Seaham a match was just finishing as I got to the beach only two fish caught all day. And the NNE wind was getting up stirring up the waves. All night hooks not touched once repair and cast every twenty mins. The only mug on the beach. Hail and snow most of the night. I even to keep out of the wind dug out a shell shellscrape with one hand on the bottom of the tripod. Caught the a late morning train into Sunderland to have a six hour stint on the Wear best winter river stint of the season. Eight keeper cod. Several good Whiting even a couple of haddock. With constant smaller fish at least a dozen flounder per hour with over a dozen well over pound plus. The crabs hardy got a look in. Had a few snotties all returned as well.

It's what it's all about. It takes a lot to keep us from the water. Mind you, these days I am not a fan of sub zero temps and howling northerly winds! Fair play to those who brave it .
