Another great video with so much action. Darren is right to caution about fishing on rocks. Only in calm seas for me nowadays. In the boom days of Stillwater trout fishing there was an addiction by many anglers to cast to the horizon using fast action rods and an aggressive double hauling technique. Whereas in reality the fish were often in the margins where there were more fry and aquatic insects. In rock structures many bait fish seek shelter close to the rocks, and no doubt the l predatory fish know this. But with modern tackle superb spinning rods and reels loaded with fine braid I find myself often striving for distance in the rivers when game fishing or when spinning in the sea. Like Darren have to remind myself to vary the casting depths and distances. Sage advice indeed. What a back drop fishing next to Dunstanburgh Castle. As a former History teacher I was always fascinated by the history of the Northumberland Castles. Now living in the North West the sea around Beaumaris Castle in Anglesey offers me some good bass fishing from boats. But it is shore fishing that I must now try having been inspired by videos like this. The sheer variation in the types of fishing locations is another big pull for this site. Thanks so much for that. Mick

Thank you, Mick. Yes , every day is a day of learning while fishing. I guess my game fishing side makes me think more about how my lure is fishing rather than a "chuck and chance" approach. Northumberland is stunning, though, isn't it ?. We are blessed. 🙂

Unblieveable about the nasty comments but you responded firmly and with dignity and humour. Well done Darren. As a salmon angler for many decades I often have to console myself with a blank day or three by saying how I have enjoyed the lovely scenery, fresh air and the company of my mates. Fresh air, especially ozone filled air, exercise through walking and casting release nature’s endorphins and you get that ‘happy high’ that lasts even when you get home and as you plan the next trip. 25:30 Though I live in the North West now I was born in Sunderland and started fishing for flounder in the Wear estuary whilst still at primary school. I then graduated on to cod as I bought decent tackle from week-end jobs in my teens. Catching some decent codling from the old and new Roker piers. No bass in those days before the seas warmed. These excellent videos bring back so many memories. I’ve been lucky enough to fish in many parts of the world but now I am returning to my roots in sea fishing and watching Darren in so many venues greatly increases my eagerness to explore the fishing in North Wales, Merseyside and Lancashire. So once again many thanks and please keep making your friendly and informative videos. Mick (William)
