This made me so curious about my own screen time; looks like I average 3 hours a day between Facebook and instagram. A lot of that is insomnia time, but more of it was during the day which surprised me. That’s for sharing this project with us!

I don't use tiktok, but Instagram (especially since adding Reels) does the same for me... It's my anxiety soother, but ultimately makes things worse! I zone out and lose so much time and feel extremely guilty about that afterwards. Plus all the stargazing at other people's "lives" is pretty bad for the mental health. No matter how much I tell myself, "this is someone's highlight reel" or "this is not real life for most people", it's hard to not get sucked into the comparison trap

once I deleted tik tok, I never felt the need to go back because my brain focused its attention to my actual hobbies or taking care of myself! actually glad to see more people talk about this!

You have the best vibe! I didn’t read a lot this summer because I was really social, which was great, but it kinda put me in a really slow reading vibe and I can’t seem to go back to the way I used to read before! So I would really appreciate a video about reading tips ❤️

As an autistic person I am not good with emotions so the emotional roller coaster TikTok causes is way too much for me 😂 I followed for your cosy games videos but I have also deleted socials and start reading more recently so this is great timing ❤

I appreciate your honesty. As another person with anxiety, I find TikTok a comforting brainrot space when I'm awake at 4am when the rest of the world feels blissfully asleep. But you're totally right - that compulsive "consume consume consume the content" feeling creeps back in at times when it's not welcome, and ends up gradually taking up prime hobby/interest time that could be spend on something better.

I deleted all my social media except for KZbin about a month ago and I can't believe how much happier I am. I now only consume long form content and I don't do anything except for calling and texting on my phone (I made my iPhone into a dumb phone). Everything I do online now has to be done on my desktop. It's been so freeing. Highly recommend checking out the book 'Digital Minimalism' by Cal Newport.

It’s so true. Sometimes I learn things from tiktok. But it’s so fast moving that I come away and try to think of something I learnt, and even if I did at the time, it just doesn’t register properly because it’s FAST

I deleted tiktok back in 2022 and some other social media and have put a lot of work into working on myself…I’m not trying to be judgmental, it’s more of a fact, but I’ve noticed my friends who use tiktok have worse habits than those who don’t…Sleeping, eating, even socially. My friends who I considered “so responsible” have slipped so much due to their screen addictions. Take it seriously if you notice you’re addicted to your phone. A good way to test is to put your phone down and set a timer for 30 minutes…if your anxiety goes haywire maybe it’s time for a dopamine detox.

This is why I don’t have TikTok. Instagram can distract me enough! More reading, less screen is a something I was doing ok at then we got a kitten. She’s very distracting if you are reading a physical book. Many have teeth marks now 😅

I have never had TikTok, msotly because i never trusted its security, but two, it's just another time suck. I deleted most of my social media accounts earlier this year, and while i sometimes feel FOMO when my Discord servers (mostly anime fandoms) share Twitter/X posts, overall I don't miss it. Helped a lot with anxiety and feeling like i constantly had to check things. SM can be great, but we have a horrible relationship with it these days. The Captive Prince trilogy by CS Pacat is a good enemies to lovers series. They become lovers in the 2nd book, but they spend most of the first book hating each other lol. And while it may not be quite what you're looking for, the Chinese danmei series Husky & His White Cat Shizun is kind of an enemies (though one-sided) to lovers series. And recommended, regardless.

i deleted tiktok a while back and don't miss it because i HATED feeling addicted to the app. that said, i do still get sucked into instagram. the best thing for me - as someone who loves internet culture, has friends online, and generally gets a lot of positives out of the online space (not to mention literal work) - is to place a timer on the app and respect myself/my time by following through with it. so i get 2 hours a day; one hour for each of my accounts, and that's that. occasionally i'll allow myself some more time but that's mostly for, like, travel stints when i'm spending way too long in airports or something :'o)

I don't mean to sound all preachy, but ever since I deleted all social media, my life has been so much better. Granted I don't get the current memes or pop culture events going on, but my attention and productivity has been a world of a difference. If I want to check something, I'll use my laptop. Much less prone to doomscrolling insta or tiktok!

Girly this is NOT preachy!! I've done the same thing! I don't think our brains are designed to have that much input and it's so bad for your mental health, for me, in terms of comparing myself to others. Pinterest though? Love it forever ❤

What the blank is wrong with today's generation?! if we went by that standard everyone would have to stop reading anything by H.G. Wells or Charles Dickens, etc.. Their works are great, but they stunk as human beings.

everything about the boox seems like something I would really like--the apps, customization, etc--but I struggle with small screens so much lol. Right now I read ebooks on my iPad but I don't love how cumbersome it can be. If boox had a slightly larger e-reader I think I would like it for myself but the phone size is a liiiittle too small for me (I've been saving up for a kobo)

This looks like a very interesting little device! I love the idea of being able to have access to the Libby app as well as Everand (I also HATE reading on a non e-ink screen so have never fully utilized Everand's ebook catalogue as well) It's a bit out of my price range at the moment but it might go on my Christmas wish list =). Thank you for opening up about your executive dysfunction. I have ADHD too and I know exactly what you mean when you say that sometimes its hard to do stuff, even stuff you know is fun and that you enjoy. I almost wish the Palma had phone capabilities because that just sounds really refreshing. I've looked into e-ink phones before but none of them seem to be able to do what this can do. Maybe one day!

U mentioned being scared of doing gel nails yourself, and I’ve done my gel nails for a while and I started getting those videos too lol. But I also learned that getting gel allergies are typically because of cheap gel polish, like beetle polishes or anything else from Amazon. So I’ve switched to Korean polishes because ppl have said they are the safest, also I think if it says they are hema free they are pretty safe. Hope this helps!

I like the idea of an android device with an e-ink screen because sometimes I want to read things authors put on Ream or Patreon and reading on my phone just isn't an enjoyable experience. But the price is just way too high. If Amazon has any sense they'll make their own version of this.
@cozymonica
@cozymonica Ай бұрын
if amazon ever did make one (which tbh i doubt they would) theirs would likely be the same price if not more expensive if you look at the cost of their other premium ereaders. but also while expensive i do think the price is pretty fair for what you get especially since they’re not a huge corporation that can sell at a loss
