Charger over challenger?

For a daily driver that you know you're NOT going to mod, an R/T is a great car...particularly if you get a Challenger R/T with the manual transmission (they got the same differential as the Scat Pack manuals). Just know they're not fast cars by today's standards (although, they're still faster than 80% of the cars on the road), but the Hemi sound, the low-end torque and the manual transmission are all worth it over buying an SXT/GT or, say, a Honda Accord. However, if you're buying it with plans to modify it and make it faster...STOP RIGHT THERE...just go for the Scat Pack (or Hellcat, of course, but the Hellcat is double the price of an R/T...not really in the same decision tree for most people). The Scat Pack will be far cheaper in the long run, you'll have full warranty, and your car will retain it's resale value much better than a modded R/T.

Fast but not reliable, expensive to insure. Not a smart purchase.

I got a scat pack and I love it!!! Now I considered the hellcat, but it’s not realistic for daily use. My scat has enough power for me and I love it. The scat pack is for NATURALY ASPIRATED POWER.

I’m a vette guy but I’m getting the scat cuz it comes in manual and is more practical imo 🤷‍♂️ and I can mod it how I want, hellcat is just overhyped

I leased mine in 2017, 3 years later and 12k miles, i kept it. I looked at its value and how much i have left to pay for it, i owed less then its KBB value. by the way its really reliable as long as you keep your eye on oil level and change your oil regularly at 3k-4k miles depending on your driving.😊

For a rt I bought a used one one stock at 150,000 gen 2. It’s good I like the body style. Just had to replace the temperature sensor and the fuel pump.

175mph-182mph is plenty fast enough 4 me…That 392 Hemi is not a joke…💯💯

I started & still have a R/T with a built motor. Was going to buy a Scat but the wife wasn’t impressed compared to the R/T & asked me”I thought you were going to upgrade. Why don’t you just get a Hellcat?” Tried to buy a “New” 2023 but dealers are criminals so I bought a 2022 Challenger Widebody Hellcat Redeye with less than 5000 miles. So yes I upgraded. 😂

Do you know a good tune for the rt? I plan on getting a tune and air intake and I heard you can add the hellcat lower intake on the rt with 392 throttlebody, I plan on boosting the rt in the long run.

Overall cost of the RT is way more affordable that a ScatPack and up. Honestly, dudes like you kind of ruin the Mopar community. Yes you got your hellcat and all but you need to respect that 5.7 because it’s the engine that laid the foundation in which your hellcat was built upon. The MOPAR community really is its worst enemy.

I always go with Aral ultimate 102 octane. In germany the gal is around 8,30€ /$. Shell V power is the Same....insane. Its normal to pay around 150 $ a tank of my scat pack.

To call an R/T unreliable because it couldn’t handle being abused is plain stupid. If you abuse any car it’s not going to stay reliable. Maybe try not abusing vehicles and guess what, they will be more reliable. The 5.7 has been a very reliable platform compared to the others especially if you don’t abuse them. Not everyone is going to do stupid stuff like doing donuts all the time and if you’re racing them, then you need to know how to take care of them. If you don’t know that you can’t just race a car and only do oil changes, then you shouldn’t be racing.

I currently own an r/t, 392 and hellcat redeye. Out of the three the r/t is an awesome daily driver. But for performance or power I’d go with the other two if you can afford. Anyone who tells you other wise is never driven the higher trims or is just plain jealous.
