When I bought my SRT Charger (6.4, way before Hellcats), my insurance also dropped. When I asked why it went down so much, they said, "It's based on stats. If you're driving a Honda Civic, there's more of them on the road, so the odds of it being in a collision are higher. There's not many Charger SRTs on the road, so the chances of you getting in a collision are lower." This is absurd logic, but okay.

The only issue for me with the car is that it just sucks up gas like no tomorrow. There are some amazing deals for used Hellcats in the mid 40k range that are not used and abused. I bought my 2016 Hellcat Challenger used and love it. I don't daily my car and that helps with gas costs. Insurance has tons of variables but generally is not cheap. Good strong words said about the Hellcat. I have a scat pack and I am trading it in for a jeep. Very sad about that as I absolutely love driving this car. I will miss the raw power, control within the turns, sheer adrenaline rush I get starting the car up, hearing the car purr when I step on the gas pedal, and much more. All of that I am sure you are aware of. I would love to own a Hellcat. I really agree with what you said, you can't work to just have a car. But, having said that. At the end of the day, it is only money. You can't take it with you when you die. If having a car is what you want, then make it work as best you can. Being smart about it and really understanding what you are getting yourself into is huge. Again, I agree with you. Scrap and save. Getting behind the wheel of a car you desperately want and need, man, that is something special. Makes a man feel good. I know I am moving on from my Charger, temporarily. I will have a Hellcat, soon. I will always be #dodgelife. #ineedthatspeed #ineedthatpower #ineedtohearthatbabypurr. Good stuff again!

The stock rotors will last for years if you change out the dust maker stock Brembo pads. The stock pads have bits of metal in them and they wear the rotors faster. The Hellcat is just like any other American muscle car, it's not an exotic car so you can drive it everyday without it costing you a lot of money. It really doesn't burn more gas than a 392 Scat unless you are slamming the throttle all the time.

Literally look up the rotors, you don't have to replace the "hats" that he is talking about. If you buy the replaceable portion of the rotor, you can get them from EBC or DBA for a LOTTTTT less than what he's saying. Another little tip, never buy parts directly from a dealership...you can get OEM without buying from a dealership. They charge over MSRP for parts because people are dumb enough to just accept it. Audi once quoted me $2400 for just brake pads...i did rotors, ceramic pads, and wear sensors for less than $700. Anything can be done for less if you research and learn to do it for yourself.

If you have to crunch the numbers to buy one, don`t. I have a 2019 Charger HC and put 13,000 miles on it. Here is the running cost: Gas (@ 13 mpg) = $ 2,500 roughly. Maintenance: 4 oil changes (every 3,000 miles) $ 0, have a deal with FCA, free oil changes. Swapped tires (bought wider ones) $ 2,000. But that was my decision, didn`t have to do it. Tires are about done, cost $ 1,000 to replace. And a window tint for another $ 200. That`s it, no brakes or anything else. Super reliable car. All in, it cost me about as much (if not less) as an M 550. If you think you can run a HC on an SXT budget, you`re delusional but all things considered, it`s a surprisingly affordable car. If you don`t drive the crap out of it.

If you don't track your charger, your rotors will not require replacing any time soon. I've got a 2017 Charger with 29k miles and the big Brembos are still perfect...lots of life left in the brake pads. However, your mileage may vary. As for tires, 40K is probably the max anyone will get no matter the tire or rotation schedule. The car is too heavy and the 20s don't provide much in terms of longevity. My current Goodyear tires will probably last about 30K...much better than the stock Pirelli tires.

If your not tracking your car chances of you replacing rotors is very slim, just make sure to change those break pads on time, that should keep the rotors healthy.

Once my dealer told me the rotors alone were $2000cdn a corner I knew at that moment this car wasn't for me 😂 the maintanence of the hellcat would cost me around $20,000 cdn in 3 years oil changes brakes filters and tires 🤷 I think a e92 m3 would be cheaper to maintain

You can get rotors for a lot less and anyone who knows how to work on a car can put them in. Tires depend on your level of insanity and ability to resist lighting them up and what tires you buy. Oil and filters aren't all that much more than for an R/T.
@dylanfarris76474 жыл бұрын
I feel pretty lucky only paying $200 a month in insurance for full coverage after reading some of these comments lol If youre on a tighter budget with a hellcat then just dont beat the hell out of it. Dont be hard breaking constantly and doing pulls off of every light and stop sign. Maintenance costs are entirely your own creation.

literally in the state of fighting my decision of buying a hellcat at 18 and as soon as you said work paycheck to paycheck for the car it threw me off :/
@kelvinbrown42743 жыл бұрын
My answer is always, unless you are going to cruise above 100, and drift, when you can, it isn't. I would be willing to bet most hellcat owners never go much past using 400hp on a daily basis. A couple grand for brakes, gas, tires for me every 3 months. I have 90k on mine and I happen to have almost all the receipts. Between me, the warranty companys and the insurance companies, approximately 80k has been spent to repair, maintain, and upgrade my car for better street performance, over it's 6 year life so far. I think my experience may be a typical though, because I have yet to see anyone put the car in race and turn off all traction control and stability systems, something I do EVERY start up.

Why’d u choose charger hellcat over challenger ? Since seems u don’t have a big family and u usually drive alone. Personal opinion I like the challengers better but why’d you pick charger ?
@robertc43114 жыл бұрын
Enrique Benavidez I got the Charger Hellcat simply because it looks better to me, and it’s more comfortable. No one buys a Hellcat because they need one. By nature it is a frivolous purchase. The Charger offers a better ride, and because I road trip mine, and sometimes daily drive it, this works best for my lifestyle. I also go out with other couples, and sometimes commute from VA to WV twice a week. I have owned a bunch of Camaros, so I would have bought a ZL1 if I wanted another 2 -door. Another thing is the Charger has some advantages in weight distribution and wheel base, which offer some performance advantages over the Challenger. Now daily operating costs can be somewhat expensive, but I also go back between a Tahoe that I put premium gas in. Gas is also cheap where it live and work. I pay about 2.95 for premium right now, which was about 2.45 a few weeks back. My truck and Hellcat seem to get about the same mileage (look at my sig photo after coming back from WV) if you aren’t constantly beating on it, and it’s mostly freeway miles for me.

I know my Challenger isn't a Hellcat but it is a SRT 392 manual 6 speed, I didn't change out my brake pads only till I hit 168,000 miles. I down shift and use my brakes no where as much as someone with an automatic. I love driving and a manual transmission makes it fun. So if you are one of those people who wait till the last second to stop and its an auto, yep you will be replacing brakes pretty often. @Hammersrt

Lemme ask you all this...in a modern car, what are you letting warm up exactly? In a modern car (FI/DI/PI...if you don't know what < those are, you shouldn't tell people to warm up their cars) warming it up is useless...warming it up was meant for carbed cars. The purpose was to let it run at a higher RPM at a richer fuel mixture to heat the block quicker to warm up and burn fuel more efficiently. Engines are so fuel efficient these days...y'all can chill about "warming up"...these days it's just so you blow warm air out of your heater core.

Jay Z said if you cant afford it twice then you can’t afford it. So if you can pay off 2 monthly payments and monthly insurances of this car you can afford it. Because owning 1 hellcat is basically like paying monthly insurance and payment of 2. Gas, insurance, maintenance, all that ect can add up to your actual cost of this car per month.

Maintenance is a must on every car regardless of the vehicle. Yes Hellcats are high maintenence, but if you don't abuse it everyday it will be ok for many miles. I'm at 33k on my Hellcat and she still runs strong as can be. As far as things like brakes, you can find cheap alternatives, there are a few companies out there that work just as good or better then Brembo and cost half of what Brembo does. My biggest issue is driveways and streets here in Houston. Steep driveways and pot hole ridden streets are definitely one of my main concerns.
