Hungarian here, I regret to humbly correct you when it comes to the age of “Goulash” :) Paprika was not in Europe before 1492. Hungarians probably had similar kind of stews 1000 years ago but with different kind of spices. As far as I know, Goulash (Gulyás in Hungarian) soup was invented in Wienna in the Austro-Hungarian Empire-times, when the Hungarian cuisine gained popularity in Austria - the guy wanted to create something that taste essentially Hungarian. The story that it is traditionaly eaten by Hungarian “cowboys” (that’s what gulyás means) is just a nice story. Sheppards did not eat the stock they were responsible for, they probably ate some bread and bacon :)

The "pogácsa" is an energy bomb, packed with calories and resistant to spoilage, making it ideal for short trips of a few days. The most popular type is bacon pogácsa, but there are also cheese and potato versions-plus a thousand others. What they all share is a rich, fatty, and salty dough with the ingredients mixed into it, providing nutrients in a concentrated form. Its shape and hard crust prevent the inside from drying out, making it edible for a longer time.

Cottage cheese bars don't need preservatives. They'll run out long before they start to go bad, and you'll have to buy new ones, which will also run out... And that's how it's been for me for 50 years... 🤣😂

As a local, I can tell that you did your research 😊 tried the great things at the right places. Maybe except if you want to try “goulash” go for Pörkölt, in Hungary that is how the stew is called that most know

Just to know, only tourists like ruin bars :) The average Hungarian young person doesn’t party in such places at all. The same goes for coffee, usually we go elsewhere. Mostly to smaller, local, artisan cafés, or even more often, we just drink our coffee at home. For an average Hungarian, a place like New York Café is too fancy and completely unaffordable, practically an impossible luxury. Hungarians rarely go to thermal baths either, but there are a few smaller, cozier, more homey baths that would have been worth trying. Although you didn’t mention it, we also rarely eat goulash, and in my humble opinion, there are plenty of far more exciting Hungarian dishes than goulash. Honestly, you’ve barely seen anything of Budapest or Hungarian culture. The city is full of fascinating places, yet you only saw what you could pick out from a cheap tourist guidebook. I’m sorry :(

8:06 Its important to know that this massacre happened during the n4zi occupation of Hungary(1944), not during the enteritiy of the world war 8:41 Well, Eastern and Central Europe didnt get liberated, it was more like a change in ownership. Theres a museum called 'Terror Háza' that showcases the ways Hungarians were subjugated under both Communism and N4zism. We also had a revolution in 1956, with Budapest being the heart of that revolution 9:06 Oh look thats Reagen, did you know there are 3 monuments of american presidents in Budapest? American patriotism in the middle of europe! 11:18 The only hills we have are near Budapest and to the north-east, rest of Hungary is super flat, with lots of agriculture. Theres a really picturesque place called Hortobágy, maybe visit it once😉 It is also a UNESCO world heritage and has "cowboys"... Well the Hungarian type at least😂 17:33 Thats european public transportation for you. Really nice when you have walkable cities with public transportation built around 18:38 For some reason Hungary has the most beautiful mcdonalds in the world😂 In Hungary, mcdonalds does real estate business, burgers are only a side hustle lol Im glad you two enjoyed Budapest. Real gem of a city, in my opinion waaay better than the posh cities to the west of us (well maybe not Prague, that city is unique and worth a visit). Im also surprised you know so much about Budapest! It really is a historic city. Hope you two had fun here

2:07 That's a very very beautiful woman in a very very beautiful café. 🥰 Thank you for pronouncing Budapest correctly. 😊 I like that you talk about the history of Budapest, you said things even I didn't know. 13:00 It wasn't Budapest that was getting fixed up for its centennial celebration but Hungary getting ready for its millenial celebration, as it was 1,000 years ago at that time that the Magyars came into the Carpathian basin. 🙂 Wow, this video is so well-made, I'm amazed! I wish you the best. Köszönöm. ❤

Props for pronouncing Budapest the correct way, well done! :) Just a bit of correction: The Buda hill is not part of the Alps, and the Danube river was never considered to be the border between Europe and Asia. It was just the border of the Roman province of Pannonia.

We stayed in Nagoya because the hotels were all sold out closer to the circuit, but the trains were crazy there! I know some people we met booked buses in advance, so if you're staying in Nagoya that is definitely the way to go, but if you can get a hotel close to the circuit that is even better!

@letsmadventure4 күн бұрын
Ohhhhh this is how I understood it when I read the guidebook, but I see now how what you're saying is maybe what it meant. It was considered the boundary to Europe, as in "European Civilization" not as in the continent. Thanks for the info!
