My Grannie Muir played this at New Year and my Auntie Isabel played Bing Crosby! I think the Bluebell polka won!

I grew up playing diatonic button accordion and still have this song on a 78 record from about 1959. I still love hearing Jimmy Shand and his band playing these wonderful tunes.

Here's a random story about him: so I was at school with my siblings and my mum was at the house by herself doing what she would usually do but then she heard noise coming from my living room and she went in there to check and the Alexa was playing blue bell poka(I think it's called and I think that's what one it was) and my mum was shocked beacuse first she was alone in the house second isn't that weird if u are related to jimmy shand and one of his songs were playing randomly and after I got home from school my mum was telling me and I was shocked so I kinda think he was a ghost who managed to find us and decided to play one of his songs on my Alexa but idk that's just what I think lol

The polka that's actually a hornpipe. I learned it on the piano accordion when I was about eight. My father-in-law was at school with Jimmy Shand in Auchtermuchty.

I used to listen to Jimmy Shand and his dance band when I was growing up in County Antrim, N Ireland way back in the distant past I’m 81 years of age and I remember trying to get our wireless set with wet batteries to the right station to hear Jimmy. I practised the Barn Dance so that when I was taken to local dances in the Orange Halls at the time I could at least do the Barn Dance. Great memories of times past. Thank you for this wonderful reminder👏
