I'm almost 3 weeks off all refined sugar and wheat flour after being addicted to those literally my whole life. I'm happily surprised to see that refined sugar sounds repulsive to me now, flour taking a little longer to get over, but I'm organizing my life to have starch substitutes on hand. I will say that I do not have a problem with ezekiel bread, which is made from sprouted, organic wheat. Sprouting the wheat changes the gluten molecule, which I seem to tolerate well. I have been vegan on and off for almost 40 years but now find that I need some animal protein, especially going through massive, and I mean massive, stress with super difficult aging parents the last 8 months. I find that my body needs the higher protein that is more easily assimilated to balance hormones. I've been alcohol free for two years with God and 12 steps, which are amazing if people can find a good group of people with mature recovery and true focus on working the steps. I'm using the 12 steps on my own for sugar and flour sobriety as well and it's working really well. At 60 my brain is super sharp, even though my body is exhausted from all the adrenaline in the last year. But persevere we shall. Thanks for your work!

Heard this several times, Susan, but never get tired of hearing how all this came about, and what a success you have made of your life and you've taught me to be UnstoppaBLE❣️👌👏🏻 ☺️ My highest weight was 229 lbs. I still have 26 more lbs. to lose to get back down to 130 lbs. (my weight where I felt good most of my adult life and before my back injury in 2016) and hopefully, get this last weight gone. Maybe, just maybe.....my lower back pain will subside more if it doesn't have this excess weight to support❣️👌 I absolutely LOVE you, dear lady❗

I discovered Dr. Shanahan recently…she’s addictive, enlightening, bright. I have been T2 for over 40 years…dealt with it…but wallowed in ignorance. A Ph.D. In economics is not relevant. Well…I walked, studied, beat the dark prospects. I will be 84 soon…feel fine. VG lab work…brilliant medical team. Not one raises the subject of nutrition! But…upon leaving their offices…I am on my own each day. Via KZbin I have learned a lot. . . Carefully disregarding the quacks . Seems that metabolic research is at a ‘bend in the road’. An exciting time, in my mind. Enjoy it…

Great video. Regarding home cooking- when I quit sugar I found that the easiest way to cook was to forego “recipe” cooking and just concentrate on three things- 1. a piece of meat: any kind (chicken, beef, pork, eggs, shellfish or fish) cooked any style (sautee, grilled, baked, air-fry, fried) 2. Vegetable (any) or salad (any way you want) 3. Potato or rice This us an over simplification but it can work for you Add any dairy your family enjoys.

If you eat salads, the primary ingredient in almost all salad dressings is seed oil. You think your eating healthy but your salad dressing is undermining your efforts. And if you're like most, you're using a generous amount of dressing on your salad.

Ok.. as an Asian person who’s been eating algae all my life, it is A JOKE that this product is $130!?!?! People, just go eat some naturally-sourced algae for a tenth of the price and 10x its freshness. Algae is good for you, but this brand is not good for your wallet.

My uric acid level spiked up significantly after 14 days and 7 days water fasting: from about 300 to 723 range. It comes back to baseline of about 300 in between these prolonged fasts. I eat OMAD, and since January/24, I do structured fasting: 3-5 days water fast 1x/month. I don't have gout, and I feel great. About 70 y.o. with normal BMI, no chronic diseases, no meds. Any comments about these spikes after prolonged water fasts? Thx. Although my question relates to the state when I am not eating, It is super interesting to learn about dietary biochemistry: glucose-fructose-uric acid. Excellent inverview.! Thank you Dr. Richard Johnson and The Kick Sugar Coach.

Also, my LDL-Chol spikes up after each prolonged fast, but NMR shows that it is large pattern A. I am not sure if there is any connection to my Uric Acid spikes. Thx.

I'll have to listen to this later. Looks good. I try to follow the Starch Solution and in it it says to avoid all processed oils. Haven't been following it, too much going on, but I will get back to it. When I followed it, I felt so good and I didn't crave junk food. I lost weight too. Too much has happened since then and have gotten off of it. I'm interested to see this video to see if it is similar. Thanks for all your work!

What led you to want to follow the starch solution?
@bonniespruin63692 ай бұрын
@@danielpincus221 Some videos I watched. Also, Chef AJ said that Dr. McDougall was her mentor and I really like chef AJ's videos. She, and other people who follow The Starch Solution, have kind of put their own twist on it. I believe they don't go quite as low fat as he did but basically follow the same way of eating. Healthy Emmie is another one I love to watch. I did the Starch Solution (Healthy Emmie's way) for 5 or 6 weeks earlier in the year, and I lost 14 pounds, wasn't craving junk, and my hormones were getting so much better that my hot flashes significantly improved. That sold me. Nothing before would help my hot flashes. A lot has happened since then, and you could say I fell off of the wagon. I'm getting back to doing better though.
