Sorry but LoL. Your story reminds me of living in Klamath Falls, Oregon. 400 miles from civilization, Portland Oregon or San Francisco, Ca. I was a college student there, a long, long time ago. Same type of climate. Great place to live if you like hunting for deer or Elk. Not quite as high in elevation only 4,300ft. I like to watch the train station live cam. Question how’s the food across the tracks from the train station at lumberyard brewing Co. Food looks good on their website 🤔🤔

If im looking to purchase my first home but stay living out of state whay are the considerations I should keep in mind in flagstaff
@FundsInTheSun4 ай бұрын
You need to first decide on what type of home makes the most sense for you and your budget. Would it be a condo, townhouse, or single-family home? Then know what your budget is based on purchase price, down payment, and monthly payment. I would reach out to a lender to better understand those numbers. Then it's a matter of finding the right location in Flagstaff based on your lifestyle.

As a mineral exploration geologist working on 3 continents, I've spend months at a time living in wall tents. I've used them at -30C banked with snow. They are absolutely the best tent you can own...depending on quality. One can easily spend $400 on a crap nylon tent. 10x12 is a minimum for one working person, 2 cozy people or a young family of 4. That frame is definitely not commercial grade but good enough in wind protected areas. And a little wood stove like that makes camping damned civilised. I'm used to heavy canvas commercial grade tents. But I'm buying for myself without a mining company paying the bill. I'm not sure this one would make me happy. But I'll think about it.

GREAT video and you covered some VERY important things for anyone considering a move to Flagstaff. I have LOVED visiting the city over the years but could not ever live there because of all the cold and snow AND that I am an asthmatic who is HIGHLY allergic to the male juniper trees in your city. Something for asthmatics to think about if they are considering a move to Flagstaff. I found out about this issue when I moved to Albuquerque which is 2,000' LOWER in elevation than Flagstaff but has these trees and their very toxic pollen during most of the year. I am already working on moving to another city at a much lower elevation in my retirement to escape the respiratory issues I have experienced here in the last 7 years. (I never had this problem in my hometown in another state at a very low elevation.) Anyhow, visits will be fine and I LOVE all the trains passing through town and the cozy Amtrak station, too.

You totally brushed over the horrendous Flagstaff traffic and kinda slyly tried to blame NAU...in the summer when NAU is on break you get tourist traffic, which is even worse. First snowfall...here come the "flatlanders" that have no clue how to drive in it. Try taking Rt 66 from the train station (Verde St) to Target - takes at least 15 minutes to go 1 1/2 miles...no exaggeration, you go through 9 traffic lights. Asinine that "city planners" have let it get to this point. (Flag native - waaay before 2007)

Is it hard to be a realtor in flagstaff?
@FundsInTheSun10 ай бұрын
Not really. If you can build a good sphere of people then you'll be able to stay busy. The high price point makes it easier with less transactions.

we hunted from ours in the Adirondack Mts of NYS, we spent several nights between 10-15 degrees. It did have some condensation along the walls where the cots kept the heat from getting to, but nothing real bad. Ours was great in the rain and snow, you need a pretty flat spot, or the Velcro can come apart holding the floor and tent together
