Hello, I had a feeling you come from an engineering background. I am very impressed by the way you presented the managing urgent needs that restaurants have. I am new to the industry and I am working in the payment industry dedicated to serve restaurant with the best POS systems possible. You give me material to analyze and improve our service by adapting systems that closely match the needs of the restaurant business. I praise your work and professionalism. By the way, I represent LAVU POS system, and we are going for all those TOAST system that claim can solve all imaginable problem restaurants have. The prove is in the pudding and I am very enthusiastic about the efficiency and competitiveness of LAVU vs other systems in the market. I am looking forward to see your videos in the future. Thanks for your contribution to the industry.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the kind words and your interest in how restaurant management needs align with POS systems. As an electrical engineer, I definitely approach challenges with a systems-thinking mindset, so it’s great to hear that resonates with you. Best of luck with LAVU! It’s an exciting time for tech solutions in the restaurant space, and competition always drives innovation. Looking forward to staying connected and seeing how you continue to adapt and improve your offerings!

Amazing....How are emails being composed? Especially the images...where does it pull images for the subjects?
@makingdoughshow
@makingdoughshow 5 сағат бұрын
Hi! Emails are often composed using templates within the system that pull in relevant information from a restaurant’s database. For images, especially those tied to specific subjects or promotions, many POS systems like TOAST have built-in features. They allow users to either upload their own images or pull from an internal library that matches the email’s context, such as menu items or promotions. :)

The very first thing is employees need to do is learn how to greet a walk in customer, properly because thats the first impression you get. I cant count how many times i walked into a bisiness said hello and get a silence, noatter how good your product or food is this will determine if i come back or not.
@makingdoughshow
@makingdoughshow 21 күн бұрын
You're absolutely right-the first impression is crucial. A warm greeting can set the tone for the entire customer experience. It’s amazing how much impact a simple "hello" can have. No matter how great the product or food is, that initial interaction can really determine whether a customer feels welcome and wants to return. Thanks for sharing this important reminder!

We can't raise to the occasion we sink to the level of our training
@makingdoughshow
@makingdoughshow 5 сағат бұрын
That's a powerful statement! It really highlights the importance of consistent training and preparation. When challenges arise, we don't magically rise to the occasion-we perform based on the level of training and habits we've built. It's a great reminder to always focus on proper training and development. :)

Systems are also a consistent set of principles. Which is also important Because replication in employees is easier than replication in management Because managers should be able to reliably change systems or processes based on your ideals in the event of a sudden change ( or gradual change in circumstances) Teach the managers your principles and a system of reporting changes they make why and a period of determining whether it creates a positive or negative impact is important But make sure in the manager training there is an aspect of understanding systems THINKING. Hire well Train better. A good server is not always a good manager. Unless they buy into the big picture.
@makingdoughshow
@makingdoughshow 28 күн бұрын
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! You're absolutely right-consistent systems make it easier for employees to follow and managers to adjust when needed. Training managers to think critically about these systems and report on any changes is super important for keeping things running smoothly. And you're spot on about hiring and training-getting managers who truly understand and believe in the big picture is key. Appreciate your input!

True. I applied as a busboy for my first job, but in my first day the owner had a change of mind and asked me if I could work in the kitchen since that’s where he really needed people so I told him I was willing to give it a try. So I was thrown into the understaffed (there was only 1 linecook working there) kitchen with 0 line cook experience in a busy Friday during peak season. And although I did learn how to work in all the 3 kitchen stations (linecook, sushi bar & sushi rolls), I do believe that if I had someone giving me proper guidance I would had learn way faster.

Majority of coffee sales happen between 6:00 and 10:00 am! 8:00 is late for a cafe to open if they think their sales are low. :)

You’re absolutely right! Those early morning hours are prime time for coffee sales. Opening at 8:00 might mean missing out on a big chunk of potential business. Thanks for pointing that out! 😊☕
