0:17- 0:25 the best footage is definitely from behind where you can very clearly see the pressure in the fall line and the lovely floating in the transition, really jumping from apex to apex or outside ski to outside ski, what in my view really differentiates the mere amateur carver from the elite ski racers

Trying to look pretty while skiing is the enemy of fluidity and function. Her feet are are too close together and way too much static upper body tension. Poles are too long, making a delay into the start of the next turn. Im 6 foot tall and ski a 46 inch pole. I ski rather more compact than most. Although when on the chair watching other skiers, the single biggest mistake across the bosrd for people getting better is there poles are too long. Do not flip them upside down in the shop while standing erect and look for a 45 degree angle from the elbow to the wrist. Anticipate your actual ski stance and try again. They will often be as much as 4 inches too long. And remember if it feels really good then your probably on the right track. Most of all enjoy the experience for all its worth !!!

Iris flying down the hill is pure joy to watch. Follow cam is excellent as is the analysis. At this level of performance the skis are merely an extension of her body which frees her to focus on where, when, how sharp to turn and how fast should she ski. Love it.

Left turns are great, right turns - the outside is underloaded, the skis are moving apart... As if two different people...
@rickden83626 ай бұрын
Typical let all hang out description of how to ski bumps. A genuine description would be like how intricate dance steps are taught. You sort of got it with the plant the pole on forward side of the bump. Example(not literal): reach right pole here, step onto outside left ski, step inside right ski, reach over mogul with left pole, compress over mogul, extend as you pass over...That IMO is how describing bump skiing should be done, not the adhoc way done here as is typical. On each turn, besides compressing and extending, the skier goes through choreography of stepping from one side to the other of each ski and planting a corresponding pole in the appropriate place. That's how ski instruction would be better served. Another Example(not necessarily literally) as you're transitioning from left to right turn: Step over onto the outside of the left ski, plant the left pole over the forward side next bump, step over onto outside of right ski, edge left ski, compress over bump, repeat as before with right side now. This is example of a more precision type of ski instruction.

@@miromiro No, that's not what it says. It talks about a more perfect way, a more precise way to teach mogul skiing, not this old fashion way. This is actually a way to teach a more advanced skier who knows the more nuanced points of ski pressure.

Sorry, but I have to disagree on a couple points. An effective transition is a low one and we need to be extending, not bending towards the apex.
