At 6:58, where you said that the rule book states that it's okay to intentionally not charge rent, would you please provide an excerpt from the rule book which specifically says this? The only thing I found in the rule book related to this is _"The owner may not collect the rent if he/she fails to ask for it before the second player following throws the dice"_ but I would not interpret this as the owner doing this intentionally but rather unintentionally for whatever reason, whether they legitimately forgot, was being distracted, etc.

Ah! I was listening to a podcast a couple weeks ago and the hosts were talking about going to PAX and they talked about your game, and I was like "I KNOW THAT GAME! I'VE PLAYED IT!" I playtested it like... years ago, lol. It was fun to hear them talk about this game, and also kind of weird at the same time because I've known about it for years, and they were just learning about it. Anyway, that's cool it's on Kickstarter, I'll share it around!

Hey, just a question here. Did you use Markov chains to calculate the probabilities on the heat map? Did you account for the community and chance cards shifting the chances of being on any given spot at a time. I tried to and I got really different probabilities on the heat map.
@cjdcjd57173 ай бұрын
have just played with 2 players, but yes i've found that if there are a lot of first and second tier cards of one color and there is a third tier card that needs 7 of that color, good idea to reserve that tier 3 card at the start. as future tier 1 cards emerge of that color that you need 7 of, you can reserve them immediately if you can't afford them right away. don't waste gold on tier 1 or 2 cards. with 3 gold and going for a few tier 1s of the right color, it isn't that hard to get to 7 of one color. now if that is not the case, i wouldn't be iron clad stuck to that strategy. for example, don't reserve a 4 point card that needs 7 ruby if there are 0 ruby tier 1 and 2 cards to start. once you get one 4 or 5 pointer early, best to focus on tier 2 or tier 1 cards that are worth 1 point that heavily require the gem you already have a lot of. or a 4/4 noble that you already have one of the 4. if the nobles have some gem overlap, it can be a good call to just collect almost exclusively tier 1s that contribute to all 3 nobles. once you have 3 nobles, just start taking as many "free" cards with points that you can. however if the nobles are all fairly different, i mostly ignore them. you just can't let the other player get all 3. you can also somewhat block nobles in the right circumstance, for example if all 3 nobles need emerald, and you reserve a 4 point card that needs 7 emerald, even if you don't get the noble yourself, if you hog all the low tier emerald cards, your opponent likely won't afford the nobles either and you'll get the tier 3 card.

Also, keep in mind that different player counts call for different strategies. The more players, the more peaceful you might want to be. The less players, the more aggressive the player tends to win.

As an experienced player this is a really good beginner guide and highlights a lot of mistakes people make, namely having extra buys and using it on coppers! Trashing is a very useful mechanic and whenever you construct a deck rather than randomizing you should always have a way to trash unless you're using gardens or something.

This is just a sad game, last time i tried it after not playing it since i was a kid, we were 4 players, player 1 got a hot streak of high dice right out of the gate, and bought every property he landed on, game was won in round 2. What could fix it is either players start with less cash or make property more expensive.
@hardyhousegames5 ай бұрын
For sure. Honestly I'd like to see more choices in general. Like what if movement was in some sort of deck building mechanic? Or maybe all players choose 3 properties at the beginning (like Catan), then they have limited moves based on the properties they own. I dunno, a lot could make this game actually fun lol..

It's interesting to note on the "heat map" (2:30) that the light blues spaces are nearly as likely to be landed on as the "hottest" ones despite being on the "cold" part of the board. I already saw them being touted as top-notch spots in other guides but that just reinforces it for me.
@GD-Fabled8 ай бұрын
They're overestimated by go. But tbh the probabilites are not that big of a deal, yea the oranges are 17% more likely to be landed on but the light blues are twice as cheap
@hardyhousegames5 ай бұрын
Yeah, it's not really a huge difference huh. But in a game with so much change, any opportunity to mitigate risk is welcome.

My brother got the full light-blue set very early game and I somehow survived and overturned the game by trading the last orange property off of him lol.
@GD-Fabled5 ай бұрын
@@MrMelonsz How much money did you have? Light blues cancel out go salary maybe and them some with bad luck, so you had to act quickly. But oranges are def the best set in the game once you have the set, the dark blues might be better to BUY because higher chance of getting the monopoly.

An important concept you haven't touched is the draw pile size, sometimes is not worth drawing more cards since the cards you played this turn will go to the discard pile, and if you already shuffled your discard pile, you'll loose them in a rotation

I agree normally coppers you need to get rid of them, however if you have one of the best cards in a copper strategy. Then keeping them is amazing! Every time there’s a good copper strategy I win every single time! I’ve never lost a single game when there’s a really good kingdom card that works with coppers. Apothecary from alchemy being the best! However my beggar and rats strategy is epic, I’ve made a lot of enemies with my copper strategies! I’m probably the best and only copper strategist! That said I rarely lose. And my duplicate duchy run is OP!
