Looks very pretty, but it’s going to be a nightmare with all the electronics as you mentioned “ limp modes”!! What a shame!!!

Interesting. Must be rewarding to design, build and see solutions through to the end. Engine sounds great. When you think that probably had a 1256cc on a stromberg carburettor from the factory. A bit of a difference.

I would like to build my own but I want to use the red top Vauxhall engine because I no them like the back of my hand and have a shed full of them in various build for ideally would like to run a turbo for 330- Bhp for track use and switchable too around 500bhp for a fire breathing monster I would like the frame extra rigid and heavier than the gt could this be done?
@GreatBritishSportsCa2 ай бұрын
Yes the Vauxhall red top engine has been used before in the Zero, the custom Zero Kit that we offer allows you to tailor the Zero to the engine configuration of your choice, whether that is an already compatible engine or a completely custom engine installation. This kit allows you to customise the whole power train and other aspects of the car. If you would like to contact us then we can discuss the options with you in more detail. We look forward to hearing from you.

I’m interested in an EV but Tesla S is overkill for what I’m wanting to do with the vehicle. Something around 100kw (134 hp) would be plenty, with battery for - 150 mile range (so 35-40 kwh? ) Try to keep the weight and weight distribution close to the original.
@simonholland8 ай бұрын
Maybe it’s just me but i think it’s sad that one of the best sports car designs ever built, Lotus 7, is now falling for the PC con of EV’s being green and the future, they are neither as everyone will see sooner than you think!

Loads of evidence-based data out there to prove you wrong but we all know you Brexit geezers don't care for science and just want to be outraged at something. I think this is a great option to develop. Good on you GBS.
@ivanhartley43788 ай бұрын
i am a little supprised that you didnt use the nissan leaf motor, as these can be had upto 200bhp (from the 62Kw cars), and there cheap. then again everyone is using the tesla motors for conversions, so i guess there is more suport there.

Jaguar I-Pace, Bolt as they have no diff casting on the side thus less space in RWD versions and if in transmission tunnel 2wd or 4x4 should be possible...

You say it takes 120hr based upon experience so does the price. Every time you screw up it costs more money and quickly becomes a money pit that gets larger every time you look at it. Start out with a decent budget and add 50%.

Which is the best naturally aspirated Duratec, the 2.0, 2.3 or 2.5? it seems the 2.0 is a more free revving engine but obviously obviously the bigger capacity develops more torque. The 2.3 the best of both worlds?
@GreatBritishSportsCa8 ай бұрын
We use and stock all 3 engines through our parts website Kit Spares ( www.kitspares.co.uk ). We have the 2.5 in our Zero demonstrator which is fantastic, but like you say 2.3 is in-between and gives the best of both. Obviously these will be a good car, much better than an original at the time, but the price, you could get a top spec RS3, these are so overpriced unbelievably so, l mean the Millington engine as good as is, isn't a patch on the RS3 5 cylinder engine.
