I think my extruder is clogged, some molten filament solidified inside it when removing, any suggestions?
@JustAnAverageGirl83
@JustAnAverageGirl83 2 күн бұрын
I don't know the extent of your filament. (Like how much it has clogged your extruder? Or if it filled it to the top or if it's stuck at the end that connects with the heat sink) The only incident I had before this video was a small blob that I could easily pluck out with tweezers. The fact that yours is solidified would mean that you would have to heat it up somehow. Have you tried a heat gun? You would have to match the temperature of the filament to soften it somehow so you can pull it out. 🤔 This is the only time I've had this problem. After this, I started using temp towers to prevent this from happening. 😅. This is a suggestion, I don't knew if this will help.

I was just putting together info on cel care and collecting on r/animation cels, and this is super helpful! Some things to notes: 1. Gloves depends on the person! A lot of archivists for books actually recommend not using gloves due to how it dulls the sense of your hands. Ofc, feel free to do so! You won’t hurt the cel with gloves, but you can also thoroughly wash and DRY your hands! 2. I didn’t notice it mentioned (but I draw while watching so I may have missed it) but it’s worth noting that cels often do NOT come with certificates of authenticity! WB cels might (after the 90s BTAS cel craze in particular), but a lot are just “as is.” I hope more info gets out there for how we can collect and safely keep cels! They’re such a cool part of history and I love seeing more people involved in archiving. Great video! ❤
@JustAnAverageGirl83

You are absolutely right on both counts. Gloves should be a preference, and I figured that not all cels have authenticated certificates but it's also best to make sure it's the real deal. I have pinned your comment cause this is very good information for all to know. Thank you and happy collecting.

Ok so what do you put behind it then? And do you use microchamber paper at all? I think the best thing to do is a cel bag inbetween the cel and the background then into an itoya folder all together. But please correct me if I'm wrong? Normally what should a cel sit on top of before going into the itoya because I don't think it should be directly on top of the acid free itoya sheet. And Does putting microchamber paper on top of the cel ( and under the plastic of the itoya) do anything?
@JustAnAverageGirl83
@JustAnAverageGirl83 5 күн бұрын
Fair point, I have been looking into cel bags also but you would still have to change them periodically. Thankfully my cels have been safe. Because the itoya sheet (black paper and the plastic film in front are also acid-free. I haven't seen any negative signs. But I've been looking into other things like a temperature and humidity cabinet. Think of microchamber paper as acid-free absorbent paper like those silicone beads from shoe boxes. So in case your cel undergoes VS the microchamber paper will help with the odor.
@SouLAnimation
@SouLAnimation 5 күн бұрын
@@JustAnAverageGirl83 So where do you put the microchamber paper? And the black itoya sheet in back/plastic film in front - are you not worried about the cel sticking to those on the front and back BECAUSE* they are acid free? Does acid free stop the sticking from happening?
@JustAnAverageGirl83
@JustAnAverageGirl83 5 күн бұрын
@@SouLAnimation The plastic film in front is the same material as the comic book sleeves polypropylene. Yes, I placed the acid-free microchamber paper behind the cell like what you see in the video because I feel that it will maintain the odor and any other chemical-based issues that may occur. I would've done the same if I put them in comic book sleeves. I keep my folder flat in a cold, dry, environment where humidity is not a problem. This is what I've researched, as well as my personal choice based on the research. I am always open to learning new information from professional cel collectors as I am still new to this world.
@SouLAnimation
@SouLAnimation 5 күн бұрын
@@JustAnAverageGirl83 Sorry I thought I was responding to the original commentor. Ok I just found out from collectors on Rubber-Slug that you do not want to put microchamber paper behind it. Either in a cel bag individually or a bag cut open on 2 sides with the cel cellotaped in place to the top of the bag and the background placed underneath so the cel and bag are separated.. then into a larger cel bag..air removed then sealed.. then into an itoya. So complicated haha

It depends, after a print and I switch out filament, after I retract I set the temp to 243-246 c and use the wire and to push out any excess filament in the heat sink out through the nozzle. I would try that. If you can't even feed the wire through the extruder, then somehow there's filament stuck in the passage way of the extruder, and you would need to open up your device to take it out. This is a KZbin short where I demonstrate that. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qXPaZJufer-mmdEsi=dYh8hyCqnUnElMei If it's a brand new filament, I always do a temp tower so I now the right temperature to set it cause if the temp isn't correct, I believe that's how filament gets stuck. After I did that I've haven't had a problem since. Happy printing

Question with the SD card : I've used a different brand, but I could still format it just like you did (needed to partition it to 4Go, but it works). The problem is that the download is stuck at 0%. Any ideas ?
@JustAnAverageGirl83
@JustAnAverageGirl83 Ай бұрын
@thibaultdesrumaux8067 Well, partitioning is not really formatting. it's dividing the mini SD card's space. The card I used is 16gb, and I was able to allocate it to the 4096. I haven't tried any other brand than the one that could only convert to exfat. So the one I specified came from my ender 3 v2, which I think may have come with the printer🤔. So, if you are unable to format it to 4096 without having to split the storage, it could work. But again, you have a different brand, so I don't know if the card is the culprit or creality is picky on their card brands. Let me know what happens when you format without partitioning. So I can give you credit that other brands than the one I suggest will work without fault.

I'm finicky because in the back of my mind, I feel that there is still more hair to be picked up, but I need to be ok with doing with what I can do for that moment. So please use the Xtra, I'm still trying to figure out a method that works just as fast as the pro or max. God bless my dear😊

I actually just bought my very first cel today of my favourite character and episode for a great thankfuly deal and looked around for videos on how to take good care of cels, and I'm so glad I found your video! Very helpful and I also loved the parts where you showed us the cels you got! I cant wait to get my hands on my very first cel soon! I Dont think ill be getting more than 1, but this cel spoke to me so badly I just had to get it. It's always that emotional moment where you just remember watching this episode so much and favouring it, you just want to have a piece of it in your home!

That's fantastic! 😍 From what show did you purchase the cel? I'm still doing research on the frame that I want because I feel that you can't just get any frame for this. That and when I invest in storm windows, it will cool majority of my house, as well as feeling comfortable hanging it up.

@@JustAnAverageGirl83 It's a cel from Sailor moon of Mamoru! And indeed I am also looking out on frames and I think I might have to ask a local store about the exact thing I want and perhaps get one custom made. It's really tricky to find the perfect needs for a cel in one frame and on top of that I also want it to look pretty for the cel. 😭

@@JustAnAverageGirl83 It's episode 34 of season one! (one of my favourite episodes ever!) where zoisite makes contact with him at his house. Specifically it's the scene where he sits on the sofa staring at zoisite when he lowers his hand from holding on his wound. I just love that episode so much I had to get it!

@christina22klol12 😍😍😍😍😍😍 Yesssss!!! I love that for you. That is a great scene you purchased. So yes please make sure the glass has uv protection. Research where you want to place it where the sun won't fade it. All the best my dear and thank you so much for sharing a piece of animated history with me.🥰

So this happens on SE's all the time, you just heat up the nozzle, you can do this via the control menu or via your method or you can even just use the "extrude" or "retract" functions. Once the nozzle is above 180 degrees (for PLA), push the filament downwards to melt the bit thats catching then pull it up and out, easy. I dont recomment taking it apart as you did here every time you need to remove filament.

To be honest, this had only happened twice in my many prints. 1) I didn't clean away the silk PLA when switching out filament, and it got stuck in the extruder, and I had to open it up because it was stuck where I couldn't heat it up. 2) This video, the filament got tangled in the spool and nothing was printing (I still don't know how that happened) and yes, I did the retract and extract method at first. When nothing happened, I thought it was stuck in the extruder again and that I had to take it apart. Thankfully, like you said, it needed to be heated up. 3) The short is a demo of what happened the first time. But yes, I've learned temp towers are your best friends, and so is heating up the nozzle more than normal and I haven't had that problem since. But I thank you for the helpful advice as I feel it is good advice to get good tips and tricks from others who have gone through this. 😊
