Thanks for sharing your baby quilt. I have a few yards of that Minky fabric & am not a fan of sewing with it. But after my daughter has her Baby I may try making a Baby Quilt like this for my daughters closest friend that’s having a girl in July, since I have pink Minky. ❤ your videos.

Spoonflower has waaaaaaay more than 10k designs. If you can't find what you're looking for on their website, you won't find it anywhere. They even have very crude designs that I find repulsive. Love the idea of extra large hotpads and matching pot holders. Handmade gifts are the best...unfortunately they're not always appreciated. Nice job on everything you made, and thanks for sharing. Those hats look really warm, BTW. I don't knit or crochet so you can imagine how a "maker of things" appreciates those kinds of gifts. Happy New Year!

What is the name of the knitting machine to make the knit caps?
@thesouthernseamstress16 күн бұрын
I have the Addi Express King Size knitting machine. I've add it for over three years and haven't had any problems with it. It's made in Germany and more expensive than the ones made in China, but it's more durable. My sister bought one of the ones from China and it broke after about a year. She now has an Addi! Thanks for watching! Here's a link to the machine I have:amzn.to/3W085r8

Very well thought out and well made gifts for the ladies. I am sure the men loved the baked goods. Once I had my cousin Joe in a grab bag. Joe and perhaps the men in particular were big fans of my mom's poppyseed cake. So I baked and wrapped one for Joe. I think coming up with ideas are the hardest.

Those pouches with the top clips? What I'd use them for is the clipping them to the top INSIDE of a tote , purse or backpack, clipping to the strap an internal keyring--that sort of thing. If you use your pouch for money, and/or sorting other quick-access essentials, this ensures it stays near the top of the bag for that access.

Well, I kinda got tired of seeing the homemade gifts that lots of people put out. However, each of yours were so thoughtful and personalized for the receiver of the gift! All very tastefully done and each gif seems fairly easy to make but functional and again, tasteful! I really enjoyed this video and think each of your gift ideas was inspiring. Thanks!

How do you gather enough shoe boxes? Also, how do also, it would be especially helpful to watch you packing one of the shoeboxes. I enjoyed your video very much. Thank you.
@thesouthernseamstress18 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching! The church in my city that serves as the collection center for my area, has a group of ladies that wrap boxes all year round to hand out in the fall for people to fill. I'm friends with some of the staff and they are always willing to give me as many boxes as I need. This helps me a lot because the boxes are bigger than the ones you can get off the OCC website. I also save any nice size boxes from shoes I've bought my family. I will try and remember to show how I pack a shoebox next fall before I take them to the collection center. Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa

I made the Monika top too and had exactly the same problems as you did. I made the first version in the size that the pattern said was right for me and it was too big so I wear it over plain t-shirts as a waist coat. I made it in a fabric very like the fabric you used and with pearl buttons like your snaps. I sized down for the second version to the smallest size but, even so, the underarms were too baggy. There probably will be a third version because, as you say, it is quick to sew and it does not take much fabric.
@thesouthernseamstress18 күн бұрын
Sounds like when you make it the third time, it will be perfect! 😊 Thanks for watching and commenting! 💕

@thesouthernseamstress18 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching and subscribing! The thread holders on my walls are from Amazon. They are light weight plastic, which I like, because I don't like hanging heavy things on my walls. The pegs are removable, so you can remove some if you need more room for a bigger size spool. I like how they look on the wall. Here's a link to the ones I purchased:amzn.to/4iRulgT Happy New Year! 💕 Lisa

Thank you for sharing these ideas with us. Your family must love these! One question. The sponges are made from quilting cotton, netting, two layers of cotton batting and what else? Tried using the captions, but it didn't catch it either.
@thesouthernseamstress19 күн бұрын
I used cotton toweling fabric like dish rags are made out of. I actually cut up a set of colorful dishrags I had gotten from Hobby Lobby. I've also used just the white dishrags/bar rags from Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. Sam's is cheaper but they are also thinner. The toweling should be on the opposite side as the netting. Thanks for watching! 💕 Lisa

Fun items! We have 21 grandchildren and every year since they start/started sleeping in regular beds with pillows, I make a new pillowcase, and they definitely use them regularly. I sometimes make them pajama pants and find an inexpensive tshirt to go with it. I love making gifts and have done potholders, table runners, stockings, fleece caps, fleece ear warmers, pouches, tote bags, etc. I love sewing and I have so much fabric on hand, it saves me some money (because I buy fabrics ridiculously cheap and am given fabrics and gifted people's stashes) and I'm able to personalize gifts using fabrics that represent things they like, like you did. When I was growing up (Boomer), handmade items weren't always cool, but because so many people don't sew and craft like everybody used to, now they are appreciated so much more because of the quality and personal touch
