I really like the over sized hot pad ans pot holders. Like you said great gift to have on hand for any occasion. Thanks for all the tips. I have made the sunshine cross body and its great to keep in my large tote purse so i va just grab my wallet,phone and run in the store hands free. If i make it again i will leave out the front & inside zipper pockets.

On the dumpling pouch, I mark the middle of the zipper and the outer fabric. I match the marks and pin on the zipper that way. I also put a gusset in the ends to hold in my items. Sew Sweetness has this pattern free with written instructions and a video. That is the one I use. She also has lots of variations or hacks for this pattern. Thanks for sharing your makes and mistakes! We all have them!

Patterns that are created for woven and knits are drafted for the woven fabric as is. In order to use knits you have to understand negative ease. Therefore the neckline would be perfect for the woven fabric. There is no need to add a knit fabric in that area. When you used knits you should have considered the percentage of stretch and from there calculated the amount of negative ease you needed. You also need to understand how to sew and stabilize knits. The neckline and shoulder areas need to be stabilized. Be careful when buying patterns that claim they are for all types of fabrics. They will require a person to have textile knowledge. BTW I loved your how you color blocked the shirt. And although you don’t particularly like how if fits you (which matters more than anything), I think you rocked it. 😀. I really am happy to have found your channel. Keep up the great work.

The false bottom can be made from the sturdy plastic mats from dollar tree and/or the plastic table mats from dollar tree as well. Cut them to size and cover with fabric. I have also used the cardboard boxes from the post office (free) and cut to size and cover with fabric.

Sorry to hear about the volume problem. I've listened to my videos on multiple devices and haven't had any problems hearing them. Do you use your phone, computer, TV? My microphone is only about two feet from me, but I did go into my settings and bump up the volume a couple of clicks. Maybe that will help. 😀 Thanks for watching! 💕 Lisa

Use closed captions to help follow. Accents, tone of voice issues won't always be resolved by upping volume I learned as a nurse and now hearing impaired even with aids some speakers I Fi d hard to follow. I use Closed Caption . CC icon on videos that have it. This lady has it available for her videos. For Presenter I hoped to say this off screen but couldn't. Reading on screen hand written notes is hard on you and us, Write out your notes then Type them in BOLD and in font size large enough for you can read at a glance. Prefer to read hand written notes for videos? Write with bold black marker pen, space out your writing so you leave blank lines between each written line so it's easier to read from a distance. Try it out, test run video to see if you find it easier and you are not bending over notes pausing to do so. Prop your notes on a book stand/ cushion or use scanned images on a Tablet or out of view computer screen to read them closer to eye level. There are tablet/ book stands you can make/ cover so make that another project that once done is kept on screen in future videos as something viewers can see and consider doing themselves. No offence meant, simply suggestions to make it easier for you and to keep you connected to viewers. Thanks for all the time you take off camera as well as on it.

You could also use batting between the quilter’s cotton on the Kim Clutch and quilt it. They could be used as a case for their glasses that way and it would give it structure for general use. To secure the ends of the cording on your drawstring bag you can use a lighter to melt the ends, as long as it is synthetic and not cotton. Cotton will burn, but synthetics will just melt. That way you don’t need to use tape.

It would be a big help if people would teach how to draw the simple patterns. Some people do not have the abilities to order them. Especially senior citizens who do not have printers
@thesouthernseamstress
@thesouthernseamstress 14 күн бұрын
Thanks for commenting! Yes, a printer definitely comes in handy. Are you able to download the PDF files so you can see how the pattern pieces are drawn out? I know that wouldn't help for large pattern pieces that require several pages to be taped together, but for small projects, you could see the outlines and get an approximate size. I think most of the free tutorials that "Sew Can She" has show pictures of the pieces and dimensions. If you're able to save the PDF's to a thumb drive, you could take them to a copy shop to have them printed or maybe to a family member that has a printer. Happy Sewing, 💕 Lisa

Oops, I just looked at the picture incorrectly and was also hurrying to finish it for the video! 🤨 LOL I thought the straps seemed a little awkward when I was trying to put it on my shoulder! 🙄 I guess I can redo them later if they start to bother me. I'll probably use it as a project bag, so they'll probably be okay. I will definitely change them though if I give it as a gift. Thanks for pointing that out! 😀

thank you for all these great pattern ideas. I have a tartan cape that was made for me when I was a child (family tartan, fabric bought when we visited family in Scotland, so sentimental value). I have wanted to deconstruct it and use the fabric to make something as a gift for my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas. I really liked the block zippered pouch for my brother and the wave tote for s-i-l with the tartan as the accent on the pocket.

What a great idea, although I’d have a hard time giving the items away. I have very few things from my childhood due to a house fire. They would just be too sentimental!☺️ anyway I’m sure they will appreciate the thoughtfulness and the sentiment. Thanks for sharing! 💕💕 Lisa
