Die-hard Fitzroy supporter, once the bears, nothing ever but the don't care bears!

I remember this game well. Probably one of Adelaide's most demoralising losses and the beginning of the end (although he'd only just started) for Robert Shaw.

Quick point, narrator. How about doing a spot of research and naming interstate clubs? Barry Cable went home to WA to "win another club award". The club is called Perth. Show some respect and name it. When Malcolm Blight was mentioned, it's stated he arrived at North Melbourne from SA after playing club football there. The club is called Woodville.

My earliest memories of Fitzroy were from the '78 season, from the Fitzroy vs. Hawthorn game at Princes Park. I remember my father telling me we beat Hawthorn twice that year, which wasn't an easy feat. Noticed a Brian Brown in the number 2 jumper. Heard his kid was quite good. 😉 Thank you for these videos.

The Roys were good for usually 17-20,000 each game at the Junction. Excellent numbers for a smaller club. Incredibly good side from 1979-1986, playing at the Junction as home for most of that period. Would've loved to have been there as a youngster, just missed out by a few years unfortunately. Side not - How did the two cheer squads end up so close together here? 😆. Wouldve been dicey...!

A different era; I miss it. I was there for the game and there was such good will for the Bears on that day. There was a sense that the club had suffered enough already. I wonder how differently senior coaches and teams would have done things now. Lester-Smith a reserves hack? Hardly. He was probably half-cut that day because nobody would pick him.
