I'm a sucker for 4 nacelles, you've made a beautiful ship! Any chance that Fanhome will be mass producing this beauty for you now that they seem to have taken over from Eaglemoss? They already made your Titan!

Unknown. I did give them the relevant reference materials so it's possible it may happen in the future.

@@TychoYard _Interesting_ to know. Eaglemoss did some _deep cuts_ so I'll be pleasantly surprised if Fanhome do the same. Fingers crossed. Regardless - all your designs are wonderful, very sculptural and you have a great eye for doing these mash-ups of each generations' styles. I'm particularly impressed how you get such clean geometry out of Sketchup too. Bezier curves are a nightmare for me in it!

I love a twin dorsal design. Would love to see your ships make it into the game Star Trek Online. Do you have a workshop where you keep your projects displayed or do you display them in your home?

Both the Titan/Enterprise G and Duderstadt-class ships I designed for Picard are now available in STO. All of my models are custom commissioned and now reside at their respective owner’s homes.

If only they had tapped you to design the JJprise. I feel that you would have done a MUCH better job portraying the big E than Scott Chambliss.

My ADHD cannot resist, so please forgive me while I slip on my taped glasses and pocket protector. I remember reading that one of the points Roddenberry had made about the (original) Enterprise intentionally having such thin and frail looking pylons in comparison with the size of the ship was that they were intended to portray the fact that the nacelles were not propulsive units. Something lost on pretty much everyone. He had also specified that the function and purpose of the nacelles was to create a pair of fields that, where they intersected, created the warp bubble around the ship allowing it to travel faster than light. Also that only the one pair was necessary to create the warp bubble, multiple pairs creating multiple bubbles did not create additional functionality. He had said that the intersection of the fields was lethal, so they had to be set away from the ship to prevent them causing harm to the crew, which is why Roddenberry would likely not have approved of the Defiant's design had he been alive when it was proposed for DS9.

I’m not sure you watched this video but this was designed for Star Trek Picard to be included as another ancestor of the Stargazer, originally seen in TNG’s first season in which Roddenberry himself was involved.

Couldn't help but admire your effort to have a more solid interior in hull windows-- with your 35mm trick. How 'bout generating that interior artwork in layers. Say, pick two planes within the scene and lay that art on blank or clear backgrounds. Then there will be more parallax when viewed. Short of building the interior I think that might be reasonably close and not all that much additional work.
@TychoYard5 ай бұрын
@@MrChief101 thanks. I had thought of that but keep in mind that these are backlit transparencies. Any foreground elements would need to be opaque and front lit or they would be silhouetted against the back plate. This would add more work and a glare to the film.
@MrChief1015 ай бұрын
@@TychoYard Yeah, I thought slide film would be dense enough. But the glare and bounce lighting would be a thing-- ah, well! It looks pretty good from here as is.

A beautiful TOS-era shuttle! Admiral, how do you get the sheet styrene to conform to curves like that?
@TychoYard6 ай бұрын
@@fhsreelfilms thanks. The styrene is fairly thin so it bends to the shape of the bulkheads and applied in large panels. Paper templates are made first to find the rough shape. The styrene can also be “pre-curled” by rolling it over the edge of the workbench top.
