Here's a pretty interesting one, I think. My favorite Kirk solo ever is Outlaw Torn. It's nothing super fast or shreddy or technically impressive, some may even just call it lame wah+slide wankery, but for me it's the way it fits into the song. The way it comes out of the quiet mellow interlude and just erupts like a volcano or like a very sudden outburst of strong emotions, is so so so fn good. Outlaw Torn is also my favorite Metallica song of all-time, and from that, you might could guess that, yes, Load is my favorite Metallica album of all time.

If your talking about the outcome, I think that is James Hetfield. The solo in the middle is a pretty interesting use of effects.

in pure technical terms, hundrets of guitarists wipe the floor with him. Sure, he's good at what he does, but compare that to players in Tech Death and Prog...no chance. I'd argue that even in Thrash, there were far better players

The answer to your question, “Is Jabs the best guitarist Scorpions ever had?”. To many the answer is no. In fact, to many he would be behind Roth and Michael, who are both iconic and legendary. Talk to Yngwie for more input on that. My opinion is they are all great guitarists that are different from one another. But that being said, I listen to Roth and Michael much more than Jabs. Maybe he is 3rd after all.

Mustaine is an amazing songwriter and an excellent guitarist. He might not be "the" best guitarist ever in metal history but he sure is a powerhouse if you consider the songwriting and the singing. Also, how can you talk about Rust In Peace without mentioning "Tornado Of Souls"? And I'm also sure I heard Mustaine talking about the inspiration for the name Megadeth, and it doesn't concern that other dude you mentioned.

I think he is the most creative. That’s why even though almost all the guitarists he has had in that are supposedly better than him he always found a way to distinguish himself. Take for example Holy Wars…. Probably their (his) most popular song. Marty shreds throughout the song but it’s Dave’s solo at the end that people remember. Same thing with Five Magics. He always finds a way to think outside the box. So is he the best? What does that even mean? I’ll tell you one thing, him and Tony Iommi are the best riff writers and have that knack for pulling off a spectacular solo that you didn’t see coming. Just my opinion. By the way, I wrote this before I watched the video which I’m going to hopefully watch now and enjoy.

Might be the most resilient rock musician. Multiple drugs addiction relapse (almost died few times), major arm and neck injuries, cancer, lyme disease, arthritis,etc, yet he's able to keep the band more than alive. I remember when Risk came out and failed commercially, followed by the break up two years later, I thought that's pretty much the end of it. Then they came back with strong albums, returned to top 10 , did the Big 4 tour, won grammy etc. Their latest album was actually their highest charting album worldwide which pretty crazy considering its their 16th album.

Great. I can tell that you are really a fan. The only omission that I would add is Wayne Findlay. Wayne was his keyboard and rhythm guitarist for several years despite Michael's ups and downs. He also played lead on Rock and Roll Believer as one can witness on Michael's live DVD in Poland. So many came and went but Wayne was a rock for Michael thru those many years. And I think you should've mentioned the singer on the last 2? albums. With him they rocked at the HSRD + Heavy or something concert in Europe which one can see here on the Tube. A young guy...sheez! Romero? can't remember his name. But then Michael has had many, many join his band but this guy played with Blackmore first....another of Michael's ways...Ha-ha- 5 steps from Michael Schenker. Thanks for the post. Really good. Frank Marino? Check him out dude.

Michael was also offered the gig or to try out at least with the Rolling Stones after Mick Taylor left but he was like, 18 and he talked to his brother Rudolph who is several years older and he . told him, "It would kill you." Great advice. And great for us as he stayed with UFO and I saw them for the 1st time in 1975l The last time in 95. I saw Michael after Uli Jon Roth at my last show in 2004. He still has the magic nearing 70. Michael is the most prolific true to the melody guitarist ever. Built to destroy was mixed poorly but the live Hammersmith video shows you just how great he was even though he had a coke problem at the time.

Michael has created more melodies than anyone times 30. Maybe more. Frank Marino, Uli Jon Roth and Michael Schenker were born 6 weeks apart. Uli and Michael were born 30 miles apart, I used to joke that there must've been something radioactive in the water as those 2 are unique. And Frank? He did a hell of a lot of acid before he was 14. True dat. Love them all. 3 of my top 10.
@greatguitaristoftherockera28339 күн бұрын
Three of the greats right there. Rudolf and Mattias Jabs were born in that same area also.
@antrygis19 күн бұрын
I think he was also influenced by the great guitarist in Focus of Hocus Focus fame. Part of the song of his Why you can actually hear on one of their songs. 1985 and 2004 is when I saw him. The first time in America and the 1st time back after 19 years. Michael Schenker closed the show in 2004. The best. **A very odd pic at 2:13 as that is Uli with the Scorpions and Matthias Jabs. He played on Taken by Force w/Herman Rarebell on drums but Jabs followed after and in and out of Michael Schenker returning to fill in for Uli. Notice how the Sky guitars vary between 6 and 7 string. my favorite is the one he used at 2001 Castle Donnington. He signed the Historical performances and Castle Donnington DVD;s in Gold ink or marker for me as I ordered them after calling into England in 2004. I've lot of great rock and roll memories. Seeing black sabbath as my 1st big concert in 1974 and Uli + Michael in 2004. I kissed Uli on the cheek after thanking him for such great music which got me through the great and the awful. His original site was small but I sent in a poem or two and he read one of my masterpieces Quartz. I walked out into the Milwaukee September night with my cane, (He reserved a table for me as I could not stand long even back then) and was so high from Michale's performance, Uli's and meeting Uli. For the 3rd time I was within 50 feet of Michael but didn't meet him but I was shot. It was after midnight. Certainly a night I will never forget. If I could have done it different? I wouldn't. God bless Uli and Michael Schenker. I pray that they are both saved in the name of Jesus Christ. Quite surprised that I am still alive and quite thankful that in these evil times many old pix and recordings of the greatest era of guitar heroes has come out for all to see. Especially us old fans.
