there is no QUANTIFING the best of anything, loved Rory, stood at his grave many times in St. Olivers. he was just one of those 1 in a million, many dont get heard, many dont know they have the talent because they never got the chance to play something or get further education. As a proud Irishman we were so lucky we had him at all for so long. R.I.P.R.

Well Rory and Gary Moore are at the top of the pack, as two of my favourite rock guitarists, regardless of nationality, so I will pay homage to both of them.

Rory was unique, there was no one else like him. It was the music, not the fame. Dude walked on water.

Rory was definitely up there with the greatest. His live performances were incredible. He played many genres/ styles of music and was brilliant ion lead, rhythm, slide electric and acoustic. He played many instruments including saxophone.

While I am a big fan of both Rory Gallagher and Buddy Guy. I have NEVER HEARD that Buddy Guy was an "Early Influence" on Rory Gallagher. For ONE thing, Buddy guy is only about 12 Years Older than Rory Gallagher was, and Buddy Guy's fame was taking off around the same time period that Rory Gallagher's career was taking off with his band "Taste". So Rory Gallagher & Buddy Guy would have been "Contemporaries" of each other.

Thanks you’re right. I must of meant Buddy Holly as an early influence. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Many would say yes. But I much prefer the late great Bernie Torme. Check out his live version of Lightning Strikes. 1983-84 LIVE LP
