Mate this has to be one of the best educational videos I've watched, thank you so much! Which would you say is the safer option to get across to bass strait barwon heads or the rip. I've been fishing the bays in my 5.2 signature for a while now but never attempted a bar crossing before would be awesome to hear back from you!

It's not choppy without white horses, give that hainesy some stick in the rough that's where they shine over the rest.

Beware - I recently got a new plotter, and C-MAP charts. For this area they are no good. Heaps of missing details, and no channel, or lateral marks in the river. I asked C-MAP about it, and they said it’s because they are lacking detail in that area. Sheesh!

hey mate, great video. I know if your not sure don't go out. But there is only one way to learn what your boat is capable of i guess. I have a 5 meter boat. Half cab. I have been out in more than 1 meter chop , in port phillip. The waves were closer together so was rockin a little bit. I have been out once in a 6.2m boat out of W.P bay, and noticed the swell was a lot higher but it wasnt as rough as in the bay itself. Waves were spread out more. What sort of conditions would be recomended if i ever did bring her out? Of coarse safety is number one. No fish is worth dying over may be a stupid question for some, but we all had to start from somewhere. Btw, great video.

Watch out for cray pots. At low tide the ropes loop quite a long way. Easy to tangle motor.

Great video mate! what's the weather forecast on that day? This is what I'm stuck with... figuring out weather forecast to go out on Portland.... that kind of chop... is at the limit of what we could handle I think... BTW... newbie boatie here... appreciate your videos mate... keep them coming...
@ogspearos12355 жыл бұрын
Hey mate sorry for the late reply, cant remember the forecast but that is certainly not a bad day and this boat can handle far worse conditions but you also have to be capable. If i was you I would try to team up with some people from down there and learn as much as you can. It all comes down to experience. Lots of great forums out there you could join to learn more.

@ogspearos12355 жыл бұрын
I'm not too sure mate just measure it up and you should be able to find one that fits in that size range. I'm pretty sure the 17R is different too so may not help you.
