Rundown of Haines Hunter V17L offshore capabilities

Quick run down of my Haines Hunter V17L Fishing and Spearfishing off of Portland for SBT.

It's great to see other people putting up video's of their boat. Too many searches show manufacturers showing their wares with a fair degree of bias. I remember being in a 17r years ago and as for going hard in chop in PPB certainly went well and handled better than my Haines Sig 550c. Trade off is stability at rest which you correctly point out. Thanks for putting it up. It is very handy for people looking to purchase a secondhand boat

great video guys. covered most areas that would get asked about. the tenderness at rest is a trade off for the ride quality as you said. i havent any fourstroke outboard experience myself but id imagine the 115 is plenty. i have a 115 smoker on my v16 and its a bloody rocket. all dive gear, longline, fishing gear an esky will still pull 36knots. 38+ lightship an trimmed out. im about to upgrade to a 6m hardtop plate boat soon. very capable hulls

Good Video, I have a 530 classic which is a more modern version and likewise I love it. Great hull lot of room. V17L and 530 classic can't beat em.

good vid mate, I did 128nm the other day and used 124L with same motor on a 6m hooker pro fisherman c/c with 2 adults averaging about 22knots.

hey mate, great video. I know if your not sure don't go out. But there is only one way to learn what your boat is capable of i guess. I have a 5 meter boat. Half cab. I have been out in more than 1 meter chop , in port phillip. The waves were closer together so was rockin a little bit. I have been out once in a 6.2m boat out of W.P bay, and noticed the swell was a lot higher but it wasnt as rough as in the bay itself. Waves were spread out more. What sort of conditions would be recomended if i ever did bring her out? Of coarse safety is number one. No fish is worth dying over may be a stupid question for some, but we all had to start from somewhere. Btw, great video.

Great video mate! what's the weather forecast on that day? This is what I'm stuck with... figuring out weather forecast to go out on Portland.... that kind of chop... is at the limit of what we could handle I think... BTW... newbie boatie here... appreciate your videos mate... keep them coming...

Hey mate sorry for the late reply, cant remember the forecast but that is certainly not a bad day and this boat can handle far worse conditions but you also have to be capable. If i was you I would try to team up with some people from down there and learn as much as you can. It all comes down to experience. Lots of great forums out there you could join to learn more.

From what I read 442kg I believe. Hull only dry weight.

25 inch mate. Not that it makes difference to the transom, but the deflector you can see at the back helps heaps when backing up in sloppy conditions chasing a fish or alike.
