Dumb question but what is the best way to retrieve them. A straight retrieve or letting it hit the ground and slowly reeling in? Or like a wacky a few pops let it fall? Thanks
@CastingwithKirk
@CastingwithKirk 22 сағат бұрын
Definitely not a dumb questions. You can catch them with a straight retrieve, a drop and pop retrieve, or hitting cover like weeds and ripping it free. Bounce it off a dock post on a retrieve and they will sometimes try to rip the rod from your hands.

I found the Suffix pro mix coplymer green box at academy for $5.99 for 330 yards last summer and changed all my rods out with the this stuff I just Purchased some yo-zuri 12lb this week and caught a bass that ran me up under some brush and I pulled him out!! That Yo-zuri is strong!!!!!

Hello sir, I am a beginner. Can I ask you a question? Can you tell me how to choose the jighead weight?
@CastingwithKirk
@CastingwithKirk 8 күн бұрын
There are quite a few variables to selecting a jig head weight. The most important is fall rate. Under most circumstances in the colder water you want a lighter weight to slow the fall of the lure. In warmer waters you want a faster fall rate so go heavier. Sometimes in windy conditions you need a heavier weight to get through the wind and keep a straight line contact with the lure on the bottom. I find for my personal use, I use 1/4 to 3/8 ounce jig heads for most applications. If it’s finesse worm fishing I go with 1/8 ounce. I hope this helps.

For spinning reels, I liked that you were only recommending it for up to 10lbs. (I won't be using it in place of the 15lb braid + fluoro leaders on my spinning reels.)
@CastingwithKirk
@CastingwithKirk 2 ай бұрын
I myself haven’t really messed around much with the braid to Fluorocarbon leader setup. I find that using 6-10lb copolymer or mono is an inexpensive setup and covers most applications, at least for me.
