Discovered Alice accidentally. Without a doubt, my favorite stop motion film of all time. It's gritty, it's raw, and it's DEEPLY disturbing...AS ALICE SHOULD BE. The story of Alice was a mushroom trip. It was NEVER a kid's story. I read Wonderland AND Through The Looking Glass. They were not child's stories. They were adult stories featuring a child. Never forget that. And this movie treats the books as such. When you stop worrying about pleasing the masses and just want to create a work of art, THIS is how you do it. To hell with Disney. To hell with Burton and his overblown, cartoony bullshit. Burton started and ended for me with Beetlejuice. Great movie. But his schtick got OLD. FAST. Nah, I don't need that crap. Sorry for sounding like a hipster, but I'm not. The distinction is that a hipster likes obscure things and hates popular things JUST FOR THE SAKE OF liking obscure things and hating popular things. Nah, that's not me. I give everything a chance. But sometimes a work of art just sticks out of the crowd. Alice is one of those works of art. And props to the young lady who played the lead role. She was absolutely perfect. FIN.

I don't recall seeing the collective singing scene in the Idiots, I presume there are multiple cuts as I saw one version recently at PCC a month or so ago, unless I am going mad does anyone know more information about this?

I can't find it online but SCTV back in it's half-hour format on Global TV did a Casablanca/Road to Morocco mash-up that ended up with Hope and Crosby in Rick's during the climatic scenes of Casablanca. It was absolutely hilarious and a classic! Sadly the all-Canadian 30 minute episodes of the series aren't as easy to find as the later 90 minute CBC/NBC joint episodes.

...And That's why James Gunn is my Favorite movie Director...despite what my filmschool classmates may say about that. Awesome video!!❤ Havent seen anyone really dive that deep into James and his craft and personal influences. Plus the score for Super "Two Perfect Moments" always makes me tear up a bit, Super in general is a very bittersweet yet touching Masterpiece imo. It's crazy how far James has come since Super to GOTG 3... it's almost like it came full circle not only for the GOTG but for Gunn himself. Can't wait to see what he will do with Superman, the James Gunn that directed Super probably could've never directed a Superman movie...but the GOTG 3 James Gunn definitely can. Keep this up man, it's very significative and beautiful 🦝♥️✨🎥

Not exactly an Alice movie, but as Alices go...DREAMCHILD (1986) about the real life relationship between Alice Liddell and Charles Dodgson (Lewis Carroll) is the best. My only complaint about the film is though LC was played by the great British actor Ian Holm, he was way too old for the part. Ian was in his late 40s when the film was made and the real Lewis Carroll was just in his late 20s when he met Alice and her sisters. The part of Alice both the real child Alice and the scenes from the book was played by Amelia Shankley who also did a BBC version of A Little Princess. She is the best "Alice" on film. The creatures of Wonderland were made by puppeteer, Jim Henson. The best audio version of the book was done in the 50s by a 12 year old Jane Asher (later Paul McCartney's girl friend) I listen to that over and over. It is not just narration, but an actual audio play.
