Favorite Movie is Definitely GOTG VOL. 3...it has everything i love from James Gunn & GOTG, a few months ago i would've sworn it was Super but since may 5th...dang. idk if you've already covered this but it'd be funny if you did one about Matthew Vaughn (Kick-ass, Kingsman) since both him and James followed fairly similar routes going from doing grounded Superhero movies to kickstarting a franchise/Trilogy of action/Space opera films. Plus it's known Matthew Vaughn respects James Gunn's work a lot and has praised GOTG many times in Interviews...plus i just love his visual Style and humor, what to say about his action sequences gosh 🔥

I think this really explains why many people wrongly accused James Gunn as a paedophile for making inappropriate jokes but it’s in fact just his coping mechanism. Yeah you may not like it but some people deal with their trauma by joking about it. 😩🤷🏻‍♂️

Gunn is one of the greatest genre storytellers from this generation and this video sums up why quite nicely. I can´t wait to see what he´ll do with Superman.

Super was incredible, and it was an exceptional example of not judging your characters in a story, and how that can make it so much more complex and interesting. Very difficult to find now, especially in the superhero genre

This is a genuinely great and thorough analysis of the film and the filmography of Gunn's work. I always felt that Super was a spiritual successor to Taxi Driver.

Thank you! I always find it ironic that people criticize Gunn for going against Scorsese’s statement of “Marvel isn’t cinema” when Gunn probably studies Scorsese more deeply than those who criticized him just for disagreeing with Marty.

@@ScorpioDanielNerd Oh I absolutely agree. That tends to be what discourages me the most about the film world and the arts in general. There are so many who believe that their entrenched dogma on a medium or subject is law and therefore miss very obvious or even nuanced conversations.

This is a great video, plus i think you're the only person on KZbin who's mentioned his book. Btw got a copy on christmas, read it, loved it. The book needs more recognition and so does Super and Slither

Thank you! I think the book is very moving as well. It's very relatable and touching to teenagers/young adults who were troubled or felt lost at some point in their lives. Glad you read it too! Sadly most KZbin creators only talk about Gunn's popular superhero films...

I hope in the future people look back at his earlier stuff like Super, Slither, Brightburn (that's new but no one talks about it now) tromeo and Juliet, and of course The Toy Collector.

...And That's why James Gunn is my Favorite movie Director...despite what my filmschool classmates may say about that. Awesome video!!❤ Havent seen anyone really dive that deep into James and his craft and personal influences. Plus the score for Super "Two Perfect Moments" always makes me tear up a bit, Super in general is a very bittersweet yet touching Masterpiece imo. It's crazy how far James has come since Super to GOTG 3... it's almost like it came full circle not only for the GOTG but for Gunn himself. Can't wait to see what he will do with Superman, the James Gunn that directed Super probably could've never directed a Superman movie...but the GOTG 3 James Gunn definitely can. Keep this up man, it's very significative and beautiful 🦝♥️✨🎥

Man, you’re video is a definiton of a hidden gem in a trashcan. I really enjoyed you’re analysis of James Gunn’s filmography. He is my favorite Director not just from the Comic Book Movie genre, but in general. Maybe he doesn’t write the most complex stories for the movie, but evreything else, charachters, dialogues, chemistry between charachters, he always on marks with his own style, that the people will like it or not. He can make any charachters beloved or memorable even if it’s homicidal maniac or anthropomorphic animal who eats people. Now I can understand why he can make charachters with feelings or soul and why I’m invested in them. I’m really intrested you’re opinion of The Suicide Squad (which is my favorite movie in 2021 and In my opinion the best from the Director. No as deep as the Super, but still managed that all chachter have a shinig part of the movie, James Improved theese underdog charachters comparing to the comics, to the point, that Ratcatcher 2 is my favorite Charachter from the DC universe and the film method that how they made it is one I love so much, minimál CGI and more props. Last of all this movie has the best Shots of the whole 2021 movies, I’m writing it as I watched the Dune, but TSS shots are more memorable for me). And Peacemaker, which is similar to Super, where the Director doesn’t Tell us that he is a cool good guy, more likely show us, why he is, who he is. I hope more people will watch youre essays in the future, you really deserve it.

Someone with such a falsely inflated sense of self that they'd drop a completely non-constructive comment on a video that, by their own admission, is not targeted to them, for no reason other than to feel the gratification of posting their "glorious" opinion. An opinion that nobody cares about, or asked for.
