As a retired diesel mechanic if I saw anybody trying a cold start on a engine like that Cat 992 loader which costs over a 1.3 million dollars like that I’d come unglued Instantily. That is not how you start a cold Diesel engine. But if that was the purchaser of that machine , he can do whatever he pleases. He’d better be ready to replace that starter motor in the near future, which will be a bitch job indeed.

OK the first cold start of the 992 loader CAT, here we have a loader worth I would bet close to 2 million dollars and they have no way to preheat this piece of equipment? I could almost NEVER see this happening!

I use drive big truck and operate heavy equipment in Calgary, I have never had the issues these guys are starting a big ole diesel. Not even in 40 below temps.

Difference Between steam n Diesel or petrol or CNG engine is great. A petrol or Diesel engine can start itself by utilising a SELF motor, so, that, it can drive itself. But, no self motor can work for steam engine, coz, Burning steam does not ignite itself, super heating converts it into high pressure gas. But petrol, Diesel, Cng can ignite themselves.
