Nice interesting review. I own a 2012 Rav4 and its great SUV, but its time to move upwards now I feel. The 2017 is where my mind is right now. Thank you, I can see its a lot improved over the 2012 model.

Top notch review. Fluent speech and clear distinction among the trim levels. 🏆

I was fortunate enough to buy a 2017 just like this one in June 2024 with only 7200 miles on the dash! Best car I have ever driven and I've had Ford, Honda, Cadillac, Lexus, and Mercedes and for the money you can't beat Mazda! In the process of switching all my vehicles to Mazdas, I have 2 Miata's and this Mazda 3.

I cross shopped the X5, RR Sport, Cayenne, and Q7. All 2016 year models. The X5 isn’t the best at anything but does everything really well. It's the best all-rounder. If you find a used one with a clean and updated service record, you won't be disappointed.

So, I have an elderly neighbor who’s offering to sell me her 2017 XLE with only 8k miles asking $20k. Sounds like a great chance to get into a solid, reliable vehicle. Especially after reading many of these comments…

i am one of the few who are the niche customers to this car, I need cargo space to load parts for my projects, wood panels, computer cases, car parts, alongside my spare clothes, portable table 2 seats, toolbox, a battery and a small box that contains a gas powered stove, instant noodles, protein bars, some hot beverages, and water. the reason I didn't go with an SUV is because i am a car guy and i need a bit of a sporty car, didn't go with a normal wagon because up here in Canada when it snows it snows pretty badly and sometimes you might find yourself sitting in some deep snow another use case i didn't realize id need is going to drifting offroad, just installed some mud flaps and she didn't disappoint coming from an m4 coupe driver the car is in fact surprisingly agile too

I absolutely agree with your thoughts on the power. By no means fast but it has enough and like you said the road manners are just incredible. I was a lot attendant for a few years and drove every competitive SUV and even more expensive ones and this is better. Vs things like the escape and equinox it’s not even on the same planet.

I’ve had one for a few years now and I absolutely love it. It was perfect car for me just starting my career based off price and the relative fun I can have in it. I’ve pushed this thing to some crazy limits and it just does it

Those standard safety features are great for that model year. Too bad Toyota's radar based cruise control system sucks compared to current ones. One imagines Toyota was afraid of introducing this new technology, and effectively neutered it by deactivating cruise control once the speed drops below 25mph. Totally useless during commutes on divided highways, when traffic often slows well below 25 mph. Even the 2017 Subaru Outback's active cruise control will bring the car to a complete stop. Why Toyota spent so much on the technology (radar ain't cheap), then limited its functionality so much is a mystery. And why CarPreview didn't point this out at the time is another.

Allo it is i from europe..the upside of the dash has been seen in the peugeot 305. Maybe just maybe, as this was the car that sorta introduced chevrolet in europe (shortlived) ..its not coincidental, as this 305 was not perceived as modern (us cars in europe..i know europeans are predudiced and moreover in weirdo ways) .. and was value money. In the European eye, for a us car the dash is brilliant, because american cars didn t use to. / it s like..project based. Caprice classic was a bit marketed, once..Baretta.. long time nothing..chrysler neon..this one. And the we re so rich cheerleaders say the Voyager would sell, but i do not believe this..

The TLX has 3 series tail lights, far as I am concerned, that's all the similarities it needs, beyond that I prefer a Honda than an BMW or Mercedes Benz, only Volkswagen Jetta or Audi A4 are more a direct comparison to Acura.
