Will this work with an amaran 300c? A bit conflicted on buying this due to 300c's COB head length

I've been researching this handle for the past few days and I'm amazed at what it can do. I have one question that I can't seem to find a definitive answer or, can the control wheel be used for other functions other than manual focus (controlling aperture, shutter in camera, etc)? If it does it would be the perfect handle for me to invest in

Bought this spotlight but with the 19 degree lens in 2021-2022 I believe. I’ve been loving it and using since. For photoshoots and music videos. Best decision ever.

what scrim frame and diffusion material are you using in some of these set ups?
@xvlab18 күн бұрын
hey! for our youtube talking heads we just use a 48 in parabolic soft box & currently for our interview setups we typically use a a basic 4x4 2 stop silk booklight setup

Thanks for your review. KZbinr Josh Cameron also gave this lens high praise, along with a few others. I needed a zoom with a constant f2.8 and thought I’d have to pay more for a good one, but the reviews on this are so good I decided to save my money and get this one instead of a more expensive zoom. I don’t need 24mm on the low end and I don’t need it to be weather sealed, so it’s just fine. I have the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 for wide angles, and paired with this 28-70 that’s about all I need for my video kit.

to be fair you can be the greatest photographer of all time, but if the camera doesn't let you focus manually and it won't autofocus properly your photos will turn out like crap. (my camera has crappy autofocus and the way you manually focus it sucks so everything goes in and out of focus, sometimes it will unfocus for no reason just because it's like that.)

This was an excellent breakdown and illustration. Thank you. You answered two questions that I was looking for. You used the sun surveyor app to map the sun. Did you have to film at a certain time of the day to make sure the sun was not beaming into the windows and to properly expose for the window? Yesterday i was trying to expose for the window at high noon (approximately 12:39 pm) and I couldn’t properly expose for the window and lift up the subject inside the space. And i was working with two 600D Pros, two 300D ii, and other smaller light and still to no avail. Based on you breakdown, the position of the sun to the window is important, correlating to the timing of day as well, correct? Thanks again.
@xvlab28 күн бұрын
hey, appreciate the comment! yes we use sun surveyor to map the sun & ensure it isn’t blasting into the windows we are wanting to use in frame.

I think it’s a moot point to say rigging it out creeps in to the price range of another camera. If you get another more expensive camera, you are still going to have to spend on gear to rig it out 🤷🏼♂️

Please accept our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience caused by the wheels. Earlier, we purchased our wheels and wheel assembly from a third-party supplier. However, now we manufacture the wheel assembly ourselves. We have made significant upgrades to our wheel assembly to prevent any wobble. We have also upgraded our tires to take on the load more efficiently and deliver a super-smooth roll. And, we are confident you won't face the problem of the air leaking out, either. We sent the wheels & the wheel assembly free of cost to any customer who contacted us regarding the wheels. Therefore, we would like to offer you a free replacement of all four wheels, their wheel assembly, and the locking mechanism. Moreover, we ensure that with the replacement locking mechanism, you won't need to keep checking the wheel locking. Kindly let us know your email address, and we will send them out ASAP.

I love your photos. Coming off the X100V, I was surprised at how good the subject detection and tracking autofocus were on the VI. The lens design imposes a limit on focusing speed so it's not the fastest around, but it's good enough for me. I also wanted to mention that the built in ND filter really helps when you want to get those slow shutter speeds on a bright day.

@xvlab2 ай бұрын
appreciate the comment! rock n roller carts are great especially w/ the top shelf. we have one of those as well & they have served us well! those are geared more towards folks starting out or individuals/smaller crews. once you make the step up to larger, durable, pre built carts this cart is very affordable & “budget friendly within the realm of other similar carts. 🛒

@@xvlab I understand. Everybody operates different. I'm just sayin. Equipment can be a trap. Technology drives our industry. It's a cycle of constantly buying stuff. I own and operate a corporate video production company. Over the years, I've learned to invest in gear that makes money and pays itself off quickly. Bank your profits. Buy only what you really need. That advice will make your business successful. Forgive me, I'm sorry, I hope I didn't offend you. We've all done it. Buying toys is fun but in the end, you're in business to make money.

Correct me if im wrong but i dont think the distance of light source from the diffusion creates softer light. The softness of the light is relative only to its size and distance from the subject. Bigger and closer source to the subject creates more soft light which is why the frame diffusion appears more softer than the softbox?
@jhuver75163 ай бұрын
The distance of the light from the diffusion only needs to be enough to cover the diffusion to make it as the new source, which makes it bigger, therefore making more soft.
@xvlab3 ай бұрын
yes your correct on all of that! having a larger source like a large diffusion frame will soften your light source exponentially. a good rule of thumb is to have your diffusion frame as close to the subject as possible while keeping your key source as far back from the diffusion frame as possible. this will soften your source even more than if the light source was directly behind the diffusion frame. this is why a bounced source is the best way to achieve these results since it can double the distance between your source & diffusion frame while still keeping a small footprint on set! another good example is on a sunny day look at how the sun looks coming through your windows & how natural the shadows appear. then take a light source & have it right outside your window. the shadows will be harsher & less natural. take that same source & back it up 10 ft or so & you will notice how diffused the shadows appear.
