This is wondrous. this song popped into my head earlier and i was surprised to see someone had managed a video, and a beautiful one at that. Thank you for the music pdf also. ❤

Thank you so much for this. I was struggling with the lick between the first chorus and verse 2, but you explained it brilliantly. The grace note A and resolving to the E at the end of the lick was a light bulb moment. Thank you!! Are you able to provide any insight into the notes played in the official Crowded House video for the instrumental between the bridge and 3rd chorus?

thank you for posting this and nicely played. I'm trying to follow but it seems you're not following the sheet music between measures 25 and 29 but adding something. Is this part missing from the sheet music ? Thanks

Hi Jane. Just wanted to say thanks for posting all these great videos. Been playing the piano for a couple of years only so some of them are a stretch but I love the challenge. Have loved Neil Finn’s music for years and years and it’s lovely to see that others love them too. Thanks again, Richard

Crikey I don’t know whether to just give up now or practise really hard? That’s seriously one of THE best renditions I’ve found, all those extra melodies overlayed beautifully♥️ (And you even turned your own pages!)

Beautifully done. Such a harmonically unconventional song. If I told you I was composing a song in which the verses mainly repeat the chord pattern of C, Eb, and D, you'd probably frown with disapproval -- and for good reason. David Bowie sometimes composed like this, but very few other pop/rock songwriters. (Check out "Sons of the Silent Age" from Heroes for an example.)

I don’t have that musical knowledge to know the why/wherefores of the theory but I can still appreciate the oddness present on this album. It is certainly out there in terms of originality and has such a powerful ambience / atmosphere I haven’t heard anywhere else (save perhaps for Mr Frusciante)

Just beautifully done. Amazing how so many of the songs you've chosen to video overlap exactly with my very favorite Neil Finn songs -- and the ones I play so often on the piano myself. Thank you so much for doing these.

Another of my Finn favorites. (See comments on other videos.) I play this one largely by ear, and very close to your fingering. Fun to watch. Gorgeous song. (Small thing he does, showing great songwriting: The high note in the chorus every time is the major seventh against Gb (so singing F), except for the very last time, when he leaps up an extra half step to the tonic Gb. Beautiful resolution.)
@damonlinker22062 жыл бұрын
One of my very favorite Neil Finn compositions. He's obviously fond of it as well, since he plays it live a lot, despite it being the furthest thing from a hit. Thanks for this. I play my own chord-based version of this on the piano, but it's nice to see all the detailed finger work here.

Thanks for showing us the piano parts to this gorgeous song. You play Neil Finn's music so well. Do you have any plans to do a video for Second Nature or Terrorise Me? Terrorise Me sounds like it was partly inspired by Erik Satie. I hear shades of Gnossienne in it. I like the E augmented chord that he uses in the pre-chorus

Jane! These videos are great. I wish I had found them a year ago. I'm a beginner-ish piano player with little note reading ability, but I can pick things up by watching.
