Had to go grab a 40 amp fuse from the store but was surprised to find out of course they were closed on Easter so I literally drove there and then drove back without no fuse.

These buses are awesome! I rode a 1998 in elementary school, that thing was an absolute tank! These things start up quicker than you can blink your eyes! Love the engine sound, brings back so many memories.

I own one of these - a 1999 V6 - with a 5 speed manual transmission. The car has 400K miles on it. Bought it new. No leaks - no rust (AZ CAR), no shakes, no rattles, no dashboard lights, ac works perfectly. Runs perfectly. I drove it across country last summer. The mother can take off from a light like nobodies business. I can still lay rubber. His stick shift is so strange it's cool.

The oil filter got thrown off the engine when the cylinder connecting rod went through the block

This was my first car. V6 LE sport. Wood dash. 5 speed. I was like 16? 37 now. Also paid $2000 for mine. Had roughly 220k kms I loved that car.

If you don't have the thread inserts in your hood, then you'll have to get " Metric Hex Nut 8mm - 1.25 Pitch" at the hardware store. Actually got me two today at 45 cents each. Once you have the nuts then you'll have to weld them on the underside of the hood near or in one of those two holes. Unless you're able to just find a 2000 or 2001 hood that matches the same color or just get it repainted.

It isn't "just like that" (0:40) for every cover to come off. My Camry is a '97, and the cover seems seriously frozen on. Doesn't pop off by prying the slot as shown.

Took my June Camry with 213K miles at the time down to southern Florida to buy my 01 white Ram 2500 diesel 5 speed back in March of '23. Drove like a dream and had no worries.

I agree. Plus I like how the 4 cylinder is much easier to work on than the 6 cylinder. While the 1MZ-FE is a great motor also, it's more difficult to do basic maintenance like spark plug and pcv valve changes for example. Also, IMZ tend to build up engine oil sludge and leak from the valve cover gaskets.

@@jacobmartin9774 I've driven an 01 Lexus ES300 with that same 1MZ. I absolutely love how smooth and refined it is. I do like the 5S-FE a lot, it does make less power but it's a very simple engine and doesn't have the issues the newer 2AZ's do. I am a little disappointed with fuel economy (I average 22-23, highest I ever got was 28 on high mileage highway driving), but the 1MZ will absolutely not improve that lol
