Most people living in the area that u called " poverty " are not as really poor as u may imagine. Most families have vehicles but they prefer living in the downtown rather than moving to outskirts of Bangkok.......

From what I heard the water levels are decreasing and they're starting to clean the streets from mud and debris. Visiting now shouldn't be an issue (I hope)

That so weird because in the middle of NOVEMBER it’s supposed to be the end of RAINING SEASON now it’s flood in almost DECEMBER? The world getting weird
@RikAdrift4 күн бұрын
Exactly, it's not supposed to rain much around this time of year. I think it could have to do with El Niño, which was active this year, and also climate change might contribute in creating disasters like this one.
@yjkl1132 күн бұрын
@@RikAdrift November-December is peak rainy season for Hat Yai every year, it is normal for that region.

How's the situation today?
@RikAdrift4 күн бұрын
I've left by now, so don't have any first-hand information. Last thing I heard is that much of southern Hat Yai as well as the airport road are flooded, but the downtown area is dry for now. They're evacuating half of the city and the entire province Songkhla has been declared a danger zone.
@wx8pj8tu9h3 күн бұрын
@@RikAdrift How about the airport? Is it flight available?
@ginawong75224 күн бұрын
Thank for the update. I’m supposed to go there on 15 Dec, not sure my flight and hotel will be cancelled by then. Take care !
@RikAdrift4 күн бұрын
Hopefully the situation will improve by mid-December, but it's too soon to say.. from what I heard they're preparing to evacuate thousands of people now. Be safe!
@propertyguru224 күн бұрын
Instead of complaining about your "losses" be grateful you reached the Hat Yai Airport safely. Leaving the Hotel two days early is not such a big deal. Does this Hotel offer In-the-Room massage? Or you have to visit the Hotel Spa to get a massage? In your video, you mentioned the "City". Are you referring to Hat Yai downtown or something else? Safe Travels.
@RikAdrift4 күн бұрын
With some distance I can say that I was definitely lucky to get out of there. The losses I was referring to are not only the two hotel nights in Hatyai, but also the flight I had already booked, my new flight out as well as two additional nights in Bangkok. Still pretty insignificant, considering what could've happened.
@RikAdrift4 күн бұрын
Yeah, I was referring to the downtown Hat Yai. In the beginning of the video I thought I could go and explore, but I soon realized how serious the situation was. Not sure if the hotel has a spa or whether it offers massages. I only used the gym. Stay safe!

In Thailand, the bus is so random; if you don't do the hand wave, it won't stop at the bus stop and will just pass by.😅

FYI: Mahanakon is not the tallest building anymore for about 6 years now. Magnolias Waterfront (next to Iconsiam) is the tallest by about 4m Regarding the yellow flag, it is royal, but specifically for the king. The queen has a different colour. And as for Donki, that is an amazing Japanese store. They have many branches throughout Bangkok and sell all sorts of Japanese snacks and other goods

The Khlong Toei slum, which these canals belong to, houses around 100.000 people! Still pretty small considering Bangkok has a population of more than 10 million people!
