Wise decision to cancel your flights, it's not safe there at this time. Hope you get to go soon, it's a great place!

Thank for the update. I’m supposed to go there on 15 Dec, not sure my flight and hotel will be cancelled by then. Take care !

Hopefully the situation will improve by mid-December, but it's too soon to say.. from what I heard they're preparing to evacuate thousands of people now. Be safe!

I've already left last night. Be safe there! It's a dangerous situation that will only worsen over the coming days

@@RikAdrift I will be driving from Singapore into Hatyai heading north to Bangkok. This is why your video is informative and helpful. Just pray weather will be kinder in coming days.

Thanks for ur vid n update. Glad u are safe. Thinking of taking a trip there arnd xmas period, would u recommend? plus whats there to see at Hat Yai?Hw many days are sufficient?
@RikAdrift18 күн бұрын
It looks pretty calm now, no more flooding. It should be fine, but better watch the weather forecast to be safe. There's not much to see, but you need a while to taste all the food and do some shopping. I think 2-3 days can be enough to explore without getting bored

This is bad. Glad you're out safely. My family and I planning to visit Hatyai right after Christmas. Do you think it is good decision? Bringing kids and elderly person as well
@RikAdriftАй бұрын
I think the water will have fully subsided and the streets will have been cleaned by Christmas. It shouldn't be much of an issue, but keep watching official announcements and monitor the situation. Thanks for watching :)

That so weird because in the middle of NOVEMBER it’s supposed to be the end of RAINING SEASON now it’s flood in almost DECEMBER? The world getting weird
@RikAdriftАй бұрын
Exactly, it's not supposed to rain much around this time of year. I think it could have to do with El Niño, which was active this year, and also climate change might contribute in creating disasters like this one.
@yjkl113Ай бұрын
@@RikAdrift November-December is peak rainy season for Hat Yai every year, it is normal for that region.

How's the situation today?
@RikAdriftАй бұрын
I've left by now, so don't have any first-hand information. Last thing I heard is that much of southern Hat Yai as well as the airport road are flooded, but the downtown area is dry for now. They're evacuating half of the city and the entire province Songkhla has been declared a danger zone.
@wx8pj8tu9hАй бұрын
@@RikAdrift How about the airport? Is it flight available?
@propertyguru22Ай бұрын
Instead of complaining about your "losses" be grateful you reached the Hat Yai Airport safely. Leaving the Hotel two days early is not such a big deal. Does this Hotel offer In-the-Room massage? Or you have to visit the Hotel Spa to get a massage? In your video, you mentioned the "City". Are you referring to Hat Yai downtown or something else? Safe Travels.
@RikAdriftАй бұрын
With some distance I can say that I was definitely lucky to get out of there. The losses I was referring to are not only the two hotel nights in Hatyai, but also the flight I had already booked, my new flight out as well as two additional nights in Bangkok. Still pretty insignificant, considering what could've happened.
@RikAdriftАй бұрын
Yeah, I was referring to the downtown Hat Yai. In the beginning of the video I thought I could go and explore, but I soon realized how serious the situation was. Not sure if the hotel has a spa or whether it offers massages. I only used the gym. Stay safe!

We are coming by bus tomorrow Dec 2nd; any problem ? If bus company says no problem and we can not cancel . Thanks
@RikAdriftАй бұрын
From what I heard the water levels are decreasing and they're starting to clean the streets from mud and debris. Visiting now shouldn't be an issue (I hope)
