@Building Performance Center - Opportunity Council I typed, "how are mobile homes made" into Google and then switched to the Video tab because I actually wanted a look to see how they are made. Your video here was the 4th one down and the most informative and to the point video. The other three were absolutely garbage and the KZbinrs presented themselves like, 'home boys', 'professional', 'knowledgeable' and the worse way to present in a KZbin video is to come across like a cheesy sales man by assuming we'd be his friend or are his friends. The first video had the most views but after 10 minutes into it, I had to press the down vote button and I had to refrain from leaving a nasty comment. Though he claimed his video would show a mobile home from start to finish, he missed a lot of parts and thought his street style explanations: homie, boy, hood, crib... etc.. would make logical sense in any way. Sad he's at least mid 30's if not older acting like he is a teenager by using their slang poorly. It makes both him and his channel a joke. The second video was similar only the presenter claims he actually works in a plant that manufactures mobile homes. He didn't use street slang like the bozo in the first video, but instead of presenting the clip as informative and profesional. He presented it with useless Instagram selfies which included him in weird awkward positions posing for the selfie. Pointless and just like the first video, was too full of fluff and no substance as when he went into the actual plant he already missed the creating of the base part and there seemed to be insulation on a base already and he figured he's start from there. The asinine part even though he claims to work there. He isn't part of the assembly line in anyway. The dufus is a janitor. So him presenting something he knows nothing about is annoying at best. The third video was a woman who like the two men ahead of her video seemed to start the video in the middle of production as if the humble beginnings were too boring to them yet they all three listed their videos as a, "start to finish" explanation on how a mobile home is made. This 4th video after the intro I am a bit more engaged and informed yet wondering why a video only made or posted four years ago is being shot from a device using an ancient and I mean 25+ year format of a 4:3 ratio frame when everyone is using HD at least 1280x720, 1600x900 or 1920x1080. This ancient format seems it was shoot on an old school video cam. As engaging as your video is. Even a mobile phone camera can do a better job as ones made after 1996 all use the 16:9 HD format. Unless of course you're using an old flip phone circa 1995 and earlier. Good video, only upgrade it the current standards. About 99.9% of computers, monitors and even Smart phones use a minimum of 16:9 frame ratio with the newer Smart phones pushing the envelop to 21.5:9 like it is on my phone (Cubot KingKong Star 2460x1080). But this video also lacks the substance I was looking for. So onto the 5th one on the Google search results. Not perfect and like the first three, still missing a lot of parts which he thought still images and vector graphics would suffice. You know even a child knows how to shoot a KZbin video. Don't point the camera down on someone kneeling. Lower the camera man to their level so we can see them eye-to-eye. And frankly unless the host was tired, why was he kneeling? I'd rate this video a 4 out of 5. Not bad, but not great either.

I bought a 2000 Oakwood single wide mobile home new.the end where the blower was stayed cool and warm but the farther you go to the other end the worst it got. I do heating and air conditioning.i tore out the unit inside and made a nice linen closet.i set a package unit outside and ran all new duct work and cut new vents in the floor under the windows.also but multiple returns in also.now it’s comfortable in all the rooms.

Great video, but I had to laugh when talking about vapor barrier. I live in the desert and that vapor barrier would last until the next flash flood comes up my drive way and washes it out into my backyard. I'm still trying to figure out how to replace the cheap plastic skirting that blows out every time we get high winds (60+mph winds). What you do would be great for those that live in a mobile home park or on a lot in town, but not out where I live. Thanks for sharing.

A mobile home should be set up like it's over a basement with no insulation under the floors. Just insulate the skirting and Heat The Underneath. Now you have heated floors and access to all the plumbing if necessary.

Maybe not all mobile/manufactured homes are the same? I'm in a 3300 square foot Triplewide with an attached climate controlled two car garage. All of my flex duct supply lines are all suspended from the frame in my crawl space the band anchors are run up through the plastic belly barrier and insulation not through the belly of the trailer like this i have three 16 inch flex trunk lines one down the center that is connected directly to the bottom of my air handler with 10 12 inch crossovers 5 branched off to each side from the center one and all 3 runs are the length of the trailer with 8 inch branches coming off here and there going to the vents through the insulation and belly cover. It was like this from the factory the 8 inch 4x10 supply boots for all the vents were all suspended through the insulation and belly cover waiting for the duct system to be attached it came like that from the manufacturer. Maybe they don't use the belly ducts like they do on double wide trailers as they do in triple wide manufactured homes? My triple wide was actually brought in in 8 different sections that they put together on the site on top of a crawl space that was pre-dug deep enough that you could stand underneath the dwelling instead of crawling around unlike a double or single wide the frame and axles did not remain they picked the sections up off a trailer and set them in place on an 8-ft Pier concrete foundation. with a massive crane but for all intents and purposes it is classified as a mobile/manufactured home. Which is a whole nother ball game that doesn't make sense to me.

Does the type of skirting make a difference to keep cold air from swirling around under the house?
@Oaky2 жыл бұрын
Yes, greatly.
@cynthiaayers76962 жыл бұрын
Close your vents and make sure the skirting is sealed good and you will have no swirling air. And if your floors are cold just insulate the skirting 6 inch thick, get rid of all the insulation under the floor and put a heater under there now you have heated floors. And access to any and all your plumbing that you want to do. And make storage area under there now it's warm and dry.Seal it good from dirt to floor and you won't even have bugs.

Why is this not done at the time of manufacture? It doesn't matter where it will delivered to, warm or cold climates. When you insulate it protects the home from any weather to keep the utilites as low as possible.

Of course there is insulation & a belly board or a vinyl or fabric put on the underside of mobile homes when they are manufactured. This isn't a brand new home, and as time passes, shit happens. Water pipe breaks & you have to cut open the underwrap & take out insulation in that spot to repair the pipe. Rodents, cats, raccoons, etc. get in through a crack or opening in the skirting & tear open the underwrap to get up in there & keep warm - or worse nest.
@surf60098 ай бұрын
Mine came with the underbelly insulation. But a problem made in fall away. Think the plumbing out pipe leaked from the kitchen. I had professional business relevel, and they fixed it and good thing, as I live in Minnesota.

The previous owner of my mobile home was eligible for weatherization program and they blew the foam in underneath the belly of the mobile home but they did nothing else. That was back in 2018 and would it be too late to put some kind of a belly board up now? There is no one who does mobile homes near me or even the radius of about 50 miles.
