There were other videos where they removed all of the screws & bolts from the top of the snowblower. My rusty screws wouldn’t come out then I found your video. Your way was “so much” easier to complete. Snowblower

Nicelly done vid. You can also remove the auger assembly (2 bolts on each side) to change out the auger belt. I guess it's a toss up which may be easier. Who designs these things? First year engineering students? Shouldn't be that hard.

@brantsmallenginerepairs
@brantsmallenginerepairs 16 күн бұрын
@fuimaygeetang first thing I would do is make sure you adjusted the cable in the right direction. Next, i would disconnect the cable all together and see if it's still rotating. If it stops rotating, then you know it's likely a cable issue. If it doesn't stop then you need to look further down at the linkage on the underside of the machine. There is something not disengaging down by the drive disc and friction wheel. Check there next. Keep us posted. Cheers

Good evening. Cheers from Toronto. I was watching your video from a couple years back on "Can We Save It??" on a Craftsman Single Stage Blower, and at the end you suggested you were going to change the cable and do a video on it. I looked, but did not see a follow up video. I recently came into exactly the same Craftsman blower, and am fixing it to give away to a friend, but the cable is shot, but I can't seem to find that particular part for the Craftsman. This blower seems to be very very close in design, the only difference I'm seeing is the direction that the cable comes in, in this case being horizontal then around a pulley, versus the Craftsman being vertical directly to the swing arm. Would you have any sense if this part would fit on the Craftsman? Ideally I'd like to find a substitute part, versus having to McGuyver something. Thanks Vern.

First thing I would check would be the shaft that the friction disc slides on. Make sure it slides back and forth easily. If not, clean and grease this shaft. Otherwise, you should be able to adjust it so it travels further in the reverse direction. If you go to far with it though, you might sacrifice 1 of your forward gears.

@tomh9807
@tomh9807 24 күн бұрын
@brantsmallenginerepairs U seem not to understand. That was not my point . I know that it's 53.34 cm. Why are u not able to say that? And that's xactly what i mean, one does not have double crooked numbers like .34 in metric. IMakes no sense. Instead following these stupid American measurements. Metric is more accurate if you know what i mean. The same going on between US ton and metric ton and it's sad to see that we Canadians are influenced too much in certain things by them. We have our own identity and are metric. Period. But what can i say? Americans are behind the regular majority of the world in a lot of things. That does not mean i don't like them. But i assume you are measuring that way because your videos are watched a lot in the US,too. All good.
@brantsmallenginerepairs
@brantsmallenginerepairs 23 күн бұрын
It's not that I'm not able to convert and say the measurement. My question is why is it necessary? Do you tell people your weight in kilos? Or your height in centimeters? If so, I'm going to say you're in the vast minority. But if you do, good on you. It sounds like you're trying to protect Canadian values and wish we were less influenced by American ways. Again, good for you but this channel was not created to debate politics. It's here to help people with small engine repair. I'm going to use whatever measurements I feel comfortable with but thanks for your viewpoints. Cheers

I have recently purchased one cheap and the existing carb jet bolt was stripped so I ended buying a new carb but it tends to leak from the bowl gasket, any way to fix that?
@brantsmallenginerepairs
@brantsmallenginerepairs Ай бұрын
Are you certain it's from the bowl gasket and not from above. It's sometimes difficult to tell. Does it leak from that area all the time or just when running? Leaking from the bowl gasket could be several problems. Easiest thing to check is ensure the bowl nut is secured. Do not over tighten. It could be the needle valve not seating properly. I would start there.

When buying a late model blower, just know that alot of them have switched some of the parts to plastic instead of metal. And plastic and subzero weather doesn't mix. Plastic gets brittle and brakes easily. Time to looks elsewhere. Troy Built used to make great solid equipment, but now it's just cheap MTD crap that is not very well made.

I have a toro 621 R power clear that leaks fuel. It doesn’t leak right away but when I check the shed in the morning the tank was empty. I tried it again I put some fuel in it I started the machine I shut it down I checked for leaks I didn’t see anything around the tank or fuel line but next morning the tank was empty. Can this be a carburetor leak?
@brantsmallenginerepairs
@brantsmallenginerepairs Ай бұрын
I would suggest putting a piece of cardboard under the machine and set a timer for maybe an hour. Try to isolate where it's leaking from. Hard to diagnose if you can't see where it's dripping from. Check back if you find the source and need some suggestions. Cheers

Hello there I have a similar snow blower mine leaks gas after pressing the primer once any ideas?
@brantsmallenginerepairs
@brantsmallenginerepairs Ай бұрын
Leaking gas after priming is normal, but not usually after just 1 pump. Does it just leak a little bit or leak continuously? If it's just a bit, I suspect you over primed it. If it still starts afterwards, I don't think there's an issue. Cheers
@hamzamouslmani
@hamzamouslmani Ай бұрын
@ it will leak 4-5 drips on the floor after pressing the button one time that’s it. I still starts everytime and does leak consistently I think I’ll just keep it the way it is would do you think?
@brantsmallenginerepairs
@brantsmallenginerepairs Ай бұрын
@hamzamouslmani if it leaks all the time, running or not, the most likely cause is a faulty needle valve inside the carburetor. If it only leaks when you prime it, consider tipping it slightly with carb tilted upwards. This will likely force the fuel down the throat of the carb, into the intake, instead of on the ground. Hope this helps.

Thanks for this video. I was given this snowblower by my sister. It had been sitting for years, but barely used. It ran, but surged a lot, and required partial choke. While tearing it down to clean it, when I took the float bowl apart, a needle fell out that has a small clip on one end. You barely mention that piece in the video, but I think I see how it goes back together. Also, just next to the primer hose “port”, there is a much smaller “port” that nothing appears to connect to. Is that correct?
