I wouldn't dismiss the screen reader so glibly. Being totally blind, I'd depend on it, thank you very much - even if it doesn't read all the settings. The screen reader may be useful to you if you ever need to quickly change settings without looking. It, along with the subject recognition and tracking, would be settings upon which I would depend in ordre to have any independence while videoing. Unfortunately only the C2 appears to have this capability here in Oceania.

Great video and explanation, I have the Sony A7IV with a Tamron 70-180 f2.8 G2 lens that I use primarily for indoor hockey photography. My angle to the ice varies based on the rink and access. I find myself shooting down towards the ice at around a 30 to 40 degree angle. What metering mode would you suggest? I shoot in manual mode, settings are usually 1/1000 f2.8 iso auto. White balance is set to the rinks, which usually runs between. 3800 to 4600.

Hi Gary is there any way to connect multiple triggers to one flash?
@FriedmanArchivesАй бұрын
It depends on whether you want TTL flash metering or not. If not, the drop-dead easiest way to do that is to put your flash into optical slave mode and then put tiny single-burst flashes atop all the cameras you'd like to trigger it.
@jepthah1Ай бұрын
@ Thank you, I mean more in the Sony ecosystem, I have mutiple HVL-F60RM2’s and 2 FA-WRC1M controllers but haven’t found a way to sync both those controllers to the same flashes. It seems Sony only allows one controller per flash, and multiple flashes to one controller, but not the other way around.
@FriedmanArchivesАй бұрын
@@jepthah1 That's true. If you have older flashes that work off optical TTL triggering you can have two controllers on two cameras and the flashes will respond to any Sony optical trigger. Don't know how to make it work with the radio triggers; sorry.

@FriedmanArchives2 ай бұрын
The engineering specs for the Minolta A-mount lenses says the f/stop should be able to open/close all the way as quickly as 5.5 frames per second, so I would expect that would be the maximum speed you'll be able to get using the LA-EA5 adapter, even with a body that supports a faster frame rate.

I got a Minolta SRT 101 from a thrift store, and everything seems to work great except I bought the battery for the light meter, and when I turn it on, the needle doesn't move at all. Does this mean that the light meter is broken?
@FriedmanArchives2 ай бұрын
Most likely, yes. (Or maybe it's just dirt in the switch or some internal battery corrosion beneath the bottom plate.)

How do you tethered this camera to pc computer & get live-view on bigger screen (computer)? Gary's Ebook & Sony don't tell how. Darn camera has live-view all the time once you got the camera turned on.

I recently purchased an LA-EA5 when I discovered that my LA-EA4 would not work with my A7R5. I have tried the LA-EA5 with my A7R3, with both the Sony 70-300 SSM G and the Minolta 100 macro. With the Sony lens it hunts but may eventually find focus - but not always. With the Minolta lens nothing at all happens! Surely Sony should be making kit which is backwards compatible? Both lenses focus perfectly with the LA-EA4/A7R3. I thought that I would be able to move my LA-EA4 on, but it is now clear that I will need to keep both adapters.
@FriedmanArchives2 ай бұрын
That's correct - the LA-EA5 only works on the most recent bodies. You will need to keep both.

While the Canon A-1 was the first fully programmable SLR, it was large, clunky and ugly as sin. The X-700 did it with sleek, user-friendly style and opened the door to the masses who were beginners and/or hadn't mastered manual metering yet - myself included. I feel that the X-700 is more than worthy to be on the 'best' list.

Yeah, I called Sony Tech and they acknowledged that 2.01 disabled WiFi and suggested 2.02 “fixed” that… then I asked “If 2.03 doesn’t work will Sony FIX my camera body for free?” “No” (And I have paid $$$ extra for Sony’s “extended warranty” but they don’t seem to want to commit to having to upgrade hardware at no cost 🤨 so I’m sticking with 1.32 as there is nothing that these FIRMWARE UPGRADED FROM HELL seem to provide that I need… and I’m not going to risk current functionality at the risk of having to PAY for their irresponsibility. (Not to mention those who say “I had no issue” and imply other users are lying (?) when the risk is paying $700 to fix a $6k camera… on an upgrade?!?) I’m satisfied with the A1 and two FX3s and full array of GM lenses that cost me some $20K to switch from Nikon for video shooting… but I will never buy another Sony camera or lens again and suggest others look elsewhere for their video Ecosystem!
