Yeah, I don’t agree with “the ref shouldn’t reward bad shots” take either. I hear it often at all levels of basketball but it doesn’t make sense. A ref’s job isn’t to make calls based on whether or not a player takes bad shots; their job is to make calls based on whether or not a foul or violation was committed. I don’t get why anyone should allow the ref to determine what a “bad shot” is in the first place. That’s super subjective and changes from player to player.

You can only expect chaos when the refs dont have structure to begin with 🤷🏾‍♂️
