Don't screw in screws with a ratchet straight away. It's too high a probability to strip them. Talking from experience. Make a start with a screwdriver then you can actually use even a power tool also.

And don't forget, just keep spraying WD-40 all over the moving parts. That really seems to help.

Remember, safety first. You should NEVER wear jewelry when working on electrical equipment, no bracelets, necklaces, or rings. I have ruined bracelets and rings, and almost lost a finger to a ring. Not worth it!!

You dont know what your doing. You swap parts out hoping to fix it. Some actual evidence that the capacitor is bad would be nice. If you consider yourself a Technician then you need to do better before making bad videos. Good luck in the future.

He fixed it didn't he? What are you complaining about. He just saved a ton of money and got to make a video about it to boot. So what if changing the capacitors didn't fix it. He's only out around 40 bucks.

Hey buddy! Thanks for your comment! As an engineer, we always follow safety procedures and make our best educated guesses in term of troubleshooting, don't we? I am always pursuing perfection and evidance as i go, and thanks for your advice and critics :) As a matter of fact, I just purchased a better DVM which has the function of measuring capcitor and I did prove that the fan capcitor is bad. The specification for the fan capacitor is 7.5 micro F as i showed in the video, the actual value is 1.8 micro F. No wonder the fan won't kick on. On the other hand, the compressor capacitor supposed to be 45 micro F , the actually value is 39.9 micro F. So this one is also getting bad. Yup! You are right! I couldn't say 100% that this capacitor will fix my problem, but in a 90 degree day or night and with engineer's best instant and guess during troubleshooting, I nailed it! This video is made to encourage engineers like me not to be intimidated by the "professional" aspect of this A/C appliances repair. It's not a horrible problem or dangerous one to fix as long as you follow safety precautions. Thanks again! I will make better videos next time and I will keep improving my techniques :)

@@dandearman2871 thanks buddy for your support and encouragement :) Really appreciate that! You are absolutely right! There is no fr**king way that I will give any A/C man $700 for the repair :) I have better channels to spend that kind of money! :D and I bought a better DVM yesterday and proved that the capacitor is indeed bad!!! Thanks again for your strong support! DIY is always our best value in life!

You check the wrong terminal on the contactor for voltage. That terminal is the 24 volt, need to check two terminals at the bottom of the contactor to ground. Never trust the disconnect to be wired correctly.

DO YOUR TEARLY MAINTENANCE, (POWER OFF) WASH OUT THE CONDENSER COIL, REPLACE THE CONTACTOR AND CAPACITOR EVERY COUPLE YEARS, AND DISASSEMBLE THE FAN MOTOR, OIL THE BEARINGS WITH THE CORRECT OIL, THE UNIT WILL LAST A VERY LONG TIME, CONTACTORS AND CAPACITORS ARE EXTREAMLY CHEAP AND FAIL OVER TIME, YEARLY MAINTENANCE WILL SAVE DOWN TIME

My fans tried to die the one in the first year and the other in the second, poured some transmission fluid I use in my car (80-90) into the casing and I haven't seen a problem since. 10 years have passed since I did that. You need specialized tools to disassemble the fan motor.

This one is more like "what to do if WD40 and/or lithium greae aren't enough" :) (In my case spraying with some penetrating oil then jiggling it and I heard some gunk inside break and it started working again)

You are a wonderful time and wallet saver - thank you!! I have a 2009 Acura MDX and my dog seatbelt was stuck (just like the other person) making that rear seat useless for everyone except the dog. I followed your instructions- and avoided the false lubricant claims on the internet- and voila, I have a functional rear seat again! The hardest part was prying the two casings apart, but I was glad to know that it was possible without ruining the entire buckle.

Thank you for your perseverance. I watched and was about to do as you did but then I thought I'd try using my new can of WD40 spray silicone grease on a long nozzle, as opposed to the WD40 multi use which isn't a grease. It worked first time without any dismantling. Might not work for everyone but I'm happy.
